Nike Uniforms

I think the number one thing that the Nike jersey's bring to a school is recruits. That's pretty much it.

Both of those things are good points, as a younger kid and hanging around other younger kids that go to school in Lincoln, they all love the jerseys. I have not come across one college kid that did not say the Nike Pro Combat's are stupid or not good looking so its very true that Oregon might get more players because they want to be flashy. I agree with Huskerfan above though, I dont think our system or our program has room for the flashy selfish player. Everyone on the team seems to be about the team, including Martinez who you would think would be the opposite. Bo has already turned 3 and 2 star players into those who have exceeded expectations by a good margin. I would rather take the kid that is going to come here to play football and win, not to look good in the jereseys and be the center of attention on T.V. Sooner or later they are going to turn into a cancer if something does not go right, or they are not getting their way.

when it comes down to football recruits I can assure you that they are looking at what school gives them the best opportunity to make it to the next level and what school is going to give htem success for 4 years. I highly doubt that one of their top priorities is playing dress up on Saturdays

You would hope so haha but I totally agree I doubt recurits have uniform quailty at the top of the list. Plus our uniforms may not be Nike flashy, but they are still one the best in college football. They have tradition and simplicity, and they send a message that its about the team not one person. I love our jerseys, I think we should play in the throwbacks every Saturday, but the ones we were now are great.

Adidas is way behind the times, but they're making a comeback with their new shoes and commercials. They need a complete makeover though. Nike's running the air-raid spread and adidas is running the Triple Option...

People forget though that Adidas produces some of the best Uni's in CFB.

Still, I'm a Nike guy, and I would love to see us switch, just as long as the Uni's stay the same. Nike football shoes are just better period.

There are top recruits out there that say "yeah I love that school but they don't rep my brand, so no thanks"

Frankly, the Nike Pro Combat uniforms are exactly what they look like, gimmicks. If they were really that awesome then schools would wear them for more than one game. But as of yet, absolutely no one has been stupid enough to do that. These uniforms are akin to eight tracks, pepsi crystal, and pogs. The words gimmick and trend aren't things we want associated with Nebraska athletics.

The nike pro combat uniform is lighter than the current uniforms.
This if from an article written about MizzU's Nike uni.....

Nike designed a four-way stretch twill that does not hold sweat or water making the new uniforms 46% lighter than the current Mizzou uniform when wet. Overall, the Pro Combat uniform, when wet, is still lighter than the current Missouri design when completely dry.

Missouri are the best looking ones I've seen, don't care for the black on black helmet....

But at least it doesn't look like they set a 5 year old loose with a bunch of crayons....

If I may add my 1 cent worth.

Kids coming to a big time university are usually nervous as hell and hoping they are recognized (personally) by the head coach and staff. The jerseys, shoes and other things are displayed in the foyer for all to see when they visit. (Things you will get as a player here at Nebraska), but I do not think it plays a large part in their decision process still to this day.

College bound athletes are extremely impressionable by the coaches and facilities over the goods. Heck, many of them have no idea they are going to get anything as far as apparel. For the record…(NCAA approved), should they select Nebraska.

I will say this and this is no Bull Shit... <sorry for use of words....

To all present and future Husker recruits;

If you are looking to be sold a bag of goods by a coach who resembles a used car salesman, then Nebraska is not for you!

Coach Bo can develop you into the best player possible giving you the best chance to go to the next level (should you put the effort and have the natural talent to get there). You will be exhausted and stretched to your limitations in everything you do. He is one of the most if not the most brilliant football minded coaches in college ball today. If you combine his knowledge with Dr. Tom Osborne's knowledge and mentoring abilities, there is no place on this green earth that will compare to what you will walk out of here with.

They will not sell you a bill of goods, nor will they make false promises. If you have what it takes, you will have to prove it on the field just like everyone else. Yes, you have caught their interest if they are recruiting you and it's obvious that they believe you have what it takes..... DO YOU?

I have sat across some of the most respected coaches in college ball and they can not hold a candle to these two and their football perspectives or their true desire to make you the best person possible should there be no NFL in your future. You will be given the attention needed to be at the top of your personal growth as well as academic’s. (Well Prepared for the real world)

If you want to hear how great you are and that you are 100% going to be a NFL prospect.... Then dear prospect, go to that coach who smiles out one side of his face and talks out the other. You will not find that here at Nebraska!

Be a Husker, Be Proud, and do it with the respect that comes from doing it right. Everything you have or obtain in life can be removed from you by someone or some thing (except the foundation or your inner being).
