Just get rid of the shootout and go back to ties with each team getting 1 point. Someone wins in OT they get 2 points and the loser gets 0. Yeah I know it ain't gonna happen.

Whilst I prefer a good tie if that is what is earned, this looks more like the NHLPA wants to disagree on this as a bargaining chip.
They will agree to three on three if the NHL agrees to (I don't know LTIR comes out of owner share)

Instead of each team getting a point for a tie, each team should get 0 if they don't settle in OT. Make them play for those points a bit harder
