i love watching the on the fly because sportscenter doesnt show hockey so catch it every morning, but today i lost a lot of respect for the guys on there. when they were showing highlights of the pens and isles, they appeared to put every problem at the feet of the isles like they were the ones who did everything wrong.. you cant possibly tell me that both teams were not equally responsible. i didnt see the games but the things they were saying during the highlights really pissed me off, like when martin took down talbot they said it looked like bertuzzi from a couple years back. he grabbed him from behind but he just pulled him down, he didnt punch him in the back of the head!

for the record; im not complaining that they always take the pens side, i am just stating that in this one highlight they really didnt try and make it seem like they were being objective.

Yea, I've been watching less and less of the show since they've started talking over the highlights instead of showing them, then talking about it.

thats not really what i was trying to say, i would have the same opinion if they blamed everything on the pens and said the isles did nothing wrong.

I know, but they are going to try and make a good team look innocent rather then a bad team look innocent. I don't watch that show cause they don't seem to be very objective, Sirius has me hooked on a lot of good hockey talk programs where the people there are more real and aren't afraid to call out players or things like happened last night!

i didnt watch the show, but i saw all the highlights.. and i gotta be honest, it was mostly the isles fault, at least IMO.. they might have gone too far, i dont think martin's sucker punch was anything like bertuzzi's really, it might have been if talbot hadn't hit the deck fast tho, and it's still dirty.. the elbow/punch/taunt by gilles was dirty, the slash on letang was dirty, and haley going after johnson was dirty

i didnt really see anything jaw-droppingly dirty from the pens last night.. and there were 4 draw dropping dirty plays by the isles.. and it takes a lot for me to not like the rough stuff

yea its not that i didnt like the rough stuff, i wish there was more of it in hockey, although not to the extent of last nights game or even the habs v. bruins game. like i said, i didnt watch the game so it may have actually been all on the isles but i didnt see it that way based on highlights.

I kind of felt that the commentators were a little biased against the Isles as well. If the events of the game are taken from the perspective of just one game then yeah I agree with what was said, but this was a continuation of several meetings between these teams this season. If you look at the Pens fighting PIM numbers for the season you can see that they have been setting the tone all season for this kind of play and the Islanders finally decided that they had had enough. I'm not saying the isles didn't take it too far or that they shouldn't have conducted themselves in a more professional manner, but the one-sidedness of the commentary was equally as unprofessional in my opinion.

Just sayin....
