They must’ve tried Pettersson first, no? Maybe he’s asking for a shit ton after all…

Maximize the salary, as the qualifying offer for next year is based on that.
Puts a but more pressure on Montreal to commit multi year if/when they match.
Plus they did that since Aho wears 20

You have to love the pettiness (not to be confused with Petry-ness).

Now that I’m done laughing, Montreal should definitely let him walk. They can do quite a bit with the first and cap space. Kotkaniemi is…fine. OS’ing Pettersson or trading for Eichel is better.

Canucks have room to match EP.
This puts Mtl $2MM over, I think.

Also, no revenge factor.
They’ve got the Weber LTIR space and Canucks only have $13.5 mil for both Petey and Quinn no?

MTL might have to trade Lehkonen or Romanov but that shouldn’t stop them from making their team better.

Also, maybe Berge just wants to make Benning’s life miserable again after signing Toffoli and having him score 84 goals against his former club :noidea:

/I think they’re more interested in Eichel anyway

Whew, read this thread backwards first and thought it had something to do with Petry. Glad it doesnt. Did you know Petry's father played in the world series?

Waddell's comments and tweets sting a little more because he has been such a front office success in his career. Can't wait until he is temporarily marginally competent for his next team.

I do not think they are happy with him in Montreal so they might as well let him walk.

The $20 signing bonus is legitimately funny.

This really messes with the Habs:

They could lose their 21-year-old third overall pick for a late first and a third, which is bad.
They can match and have a $6 million player who hasn't shown to be worth the cap hit yet, which is bad.
They can no longer include KK in any potential deal for Eichel, which is bad.

I've been away, can someone update me on the hundreds of Islanders trades and FA signings that obviously have taken place...
