Get beyond or get behind? Skip is correct from strictly an athletic perspective but that is hardly the only perspective that needs consideration. The combine does play a strategic if not a critical role in the decision making process.

As for your loathing the use of the terms "Film" or "Tape" by fans I share your sentiment to a point but only because of what the terms imply. I've been using the term "film" for over a decade. In my world the terms "film" ("tape") & "game" mean two different things.

Get behind. Skip has never used the combine or felt like one should use the combine as a tool in his or in an evaluation or opinion on a player. It's pretty useless to him and feels like it should be for the most part to others, too. I couldn't disagree with that more.

I'm pretty stunned with the 21 from Frederick. He was known as the strongest squatter in recent Wisconsin history. I assumed the strength would be there for the bench press as well, but apparently not. He probably blew his slim chance of getting taken in the first.

Get behind. Skip has never used the combine or felt like one should use the combine as a tool in his or in an evaluation or opinion on a player. It's pretty useless to him and feels like it should be for the most part to others, too. I couldn't disagree with that more.

I've never seen either Skip & "A" as anything more than "scripted experts" and First Take as anything more than entertainment on the level of a high-school debate.

When I agree with either Skip or "A", I'm not agreeing with their expertise, I'm agreeing with their scripted positions. As an example, I agree with Skip's position on the value of watching the game or studying film but I disagree with his position that the combine is worthless.

Great. I wake up and find out that my NFL Network HD channel's signal is stuck so I'll be forced to watch the combine right now on the non-HD channel instead. It hasn't done that on that channel in years, if ever.

Zach Allen - DNP (leg)
Terron Armstead - 4.65 (1.64),
Jeff Baca - 5.03 (1.68),
Alvin Bailey - 5.09 (1.74),
David Bakhtiari - 5.01 (1.79),

Yikes. Cooper ran from side-to-side down the lane on that run. Good start, though.

Travis Bond is not a natural bender in early movement drills. No surprise. One of his problems is that he plays too high and isn't real good out in space.

Jonathan Cooper, on the other hand, was fantastic early on. Very quick feet, composed, continually stayed low. Good anticipation.

Unsurprisingly, Fluker's lower body continues to look slow in the early drills.

49ers OL coach Mike Solari is running some of the early on-field drills. He's done it prior years, too.

Jonathan Cooper snapping the ball in OL pulling drills. Enough personnel men/coaches requested that he see time as a center in drills.

The more I see Terron Armstead, the more I'm falling in love with him. Haven't heard alot from him vocally, though, so I'm hoping he doesn't come off bad or anything along those lines.

Chance Warmack's first broad jump was 8 feet, 9 inches. Average last year for an OL was 8 feet, 3 inches. His second jump was 9 feet, 2 inches. Took him 3 jumps before he could stick the second jump and I thought he wouldn't reach 9 feet each time but he was consistently hitting at least 9 on each of his 2nd attempts. He just couldn't stick the landing the first two times.

Khaled Holmes hurt himself in the weight room on the bench press yesterday so he will not participate today. I suppose that explains his poor rep number.

Poor early technique from Joeckel when he ran his 1st 40. Shot up way too fast.
