He wasn't big enough to be a 4-3 tackle and was too limited as a rusher to be a 4-3 end. Turns out he was built to play as an end in the 3-4 and is probably one of the best at that position in the last decade. I never really had a problem with his performance for us -- He was exactly as advertised when he was drafted. High motor guy with short arms and limited explosion on the edge.

Great run stuffer, not an end pass rusher. In other words, a perfect 3-4 DE.

There is no way Justin Smith at 270 lbs, his weight when he played for the Bengals, could have ever played DT in a 4-3 alignment. Never! That's just plain retarded. It's true that after gaining 15 lbs he found his ideal position as a DE in the 3-4 but I still feel he had the talent to be an impact player on the left-side in our defense. His presence on the left DE position would have him facing less agile RT while it would have also got Reinard Wilson, who was considered our best pass rusher, on the field at the same time with Smith. It's all water under the bridge now but again I always felt Smith could have been an elite LDE for the Bengals.

1. I thought you had me on ignore? And here I thought I could have a peaceful conversation.

2. If Smith had been moved to DT here he wouldn't have stayed 270. He would have bulked up to about 290.

3. Smith was a first team All Pro DT in 2011. He always says about 47-48% of his snaps at DT. He would have been fine.

Well I took you off. If you weren't willing to avoid conflict and add me to your ignore list then why should I. And actually, you simpleton, he plays DE in a 3-4 and was voted as such as a 2nd team All-Pro. I guess you are just a pathological liar and just can't help yourself.

Also, if you click on that link that YOU posted, and look at the FIRST TEAM defense, you'll see he was a first team DT and a second team DE.

DEFENSE

Ends — Jared Allen, Minnesota; Jason Pierre-Paul, New York Giants.

Tackles — Haloti Ngata, Baltimore; Justin Smith, San Francisco.

Is that your role in the family? Baby brother starts fights and you come to his rescue? But ok, I was wrong. I looked at the 1st team DE and didn't see his name and didn't think to look at the DT spot since he's a DE. I'm grown enough to admit my mistake, something your little brother will never do.

I'm not taking a side in you and his arguments. He can argue for himself. I was just pointing out that, in this case, he was correct on something you called him a simpleton and a pathological liar about.

How can I admit I was wrong if I was right? :noidea: That WOULD make me a pathological liar.

A.J. Green is ranked 16th overall. Sounds about right. What do you guys think, too high or too low?

I'd say pretty close to right. I might have even had him a few spots lower.
