He went from a team with a good defense and no quarterback to a team with a good defense and no quarterback.

He's a great defensive coach who went from a defense with average personnel to the most talented group in the league.

they need a QB. if they get Cutler (the worst QB ever!) they can make a deep playoff run next year. Bradford or Glennon would be my backup options

Why does everyone think Cutler is capable of changing and leading a team to the playoffs?

I think he's an above average NFL QB who got scapegoated in Chicago. he can't carry a team to the playoffs (only 5 or so QBs in the league can) but with that defense and receiving corps they'd be a contender with him. I'd take him over Dalton

He has better receivers and running backs in Chicago than he would in Buffalo.

Cutler has been behind some really bad OLs

It's hard to tell how good he really is.

a better RB, but I'd take Buffalo's WRs. Watkins becomes an elite WR with a solid, strong armed QB

with a better defense he wouldn't have to take as many chances downfield. i don't think he's great, but he's a noticeable upgrade over Orton/Manuel. 9 wins would become 11 or 12

Rex was a head scratcher..... He has a great reputation on the defensive side of the ball, but it's not exactly earned - His last 5 defenses have all been in the bottom half of the league in points allowed.

They are also now hiring Greg Roman as OC -- A guy the niners fans were ready to chase out of town.

No QB, no 1st rounder..... I wouldn't expect much.

Points allowed is an important stat, but it can be misleading when your offense is an inept at the Jets has been the past few years. Even this year, they shut down the Steelers after their back to back 6 TD games, and they made Brady look bad in week 16. Ryan's the best defensive coach in the game and I think he'll show that in Buffalo.

Roman gets heat from SF fans, but Alex Smith was a bust before he got to SF and I'm not sure he wasn't getting the most from Kappernick and a bunch of possession WRs. plus he's a run first coordinator which probably works to the strength of their defense.

If they can get a QB I think they're a threat

To bad Mikey is in bed with Marvin. There are actually some HC options this year.

I think Rex, Marone, or Mike Smith would all be upgrades over Marvin.

The Cuttler narrative is tired...He's simply a head-case and everything has to go right around him for him not to implode.

Tony Romo led the league in passer rating and looked like a SB caliber QB this season. Palmer is 14-2 in his last 16 games. The tired narrative is that everything is always the QBs fault regardless of what else is going on around them.

Put Cutler on a good team and he can play

Here's the thing...those guys have solid heads on their shoulders, fight through adversity, and have skill.

Cutler clearly has the skill...but he's got no leadership ability, and at the first sign of adversity he turns into a complete moron. He doesn't rally around his team, and he doesn't fight them through tough times.

Cutler has been on good teams...He has the great physical tools, but not the makeup of a championship QB...bottomline...has trouble handling adversity.

He'll continue to make the AFC East 'fun'. I'll miss seeing him in green though.

Romo was a talented choke artist who melted down in big moments and Palmer was a bottom of the league QB who quit on teams. this was the perception of them circa 2013. not that long ago. now Romo is a SB win away from a HOF career and Palmer's showing he can be a quality starter. Do I think they changed? Not that much. Palmer landed on a team with players, a good defense and a coach with a Type A personality who can lead the team without much help from the QB. Romo has the best OL in the league and the threat of the play action pass. Their surrounding talent got better

The Bills traded away their 2015 1st round pick. I don't think Luck will be on the trade market this offseson. Cutler, flaws and all, is by far the best potential option. I think you can win with that guy. That's just an opinion though.

Palmer did quit, but he never imploded on his team. It's hard to really be upset at him for wanting out. The team he was a part of was 100% dysfunctional. Yeah, that's not the way to handle it, but when he was on the field, he never once imploded like Cutler.

For all of Romo's faults, most of the choke issues have come in the playoffs, and not regular season. Also, you can question a lot of the play calling that led to those issues.

Cutler was so good that we are now talking abotu TWO teams trying to get rid of him, and a coach/GM losing their jobs over his extension and inability to get the most out of him. It's been the same story for years.

Could he be better here? Maybe, but Marvin doesn't really seem to want those types of players on this team.

Just go ahead and say it with me...Dalton is our QB. Love it, hate it, it makes no difference. This is just how it will be.

Palmer's problem is that his wife doesn't like lawn garbage. he, on the other hand, is perfectly OK with it.
