Fav. Team #1
Those of you who watched the Saints (8-3) creep to within a game of the 49ers (9-2) in the NFC playoff race are probably wondering which team would get the first-round bye if they finished with the same record. The first tiebreaker, according to the NFL, is head to head. That's moot in this case. The second is the teams' respective conference records.

The 49ers have lost one conference game (Dallas). The Saints have lost three (Packers, Bucs, Rams). That means if the Saints were to win the rest of their games, the 49ers could afford one more loss -- to any of its upcoming opponents -- and still get the bye.

The 49ers' remaining games: vs. Rams, at Cardinals, vs. Steelers, at Seahawks, at Rams.

The Saints' remaining games: vs. Lions, at Titans, at Vikings, vs. Falcons, vs. Panthers.

Tiebreaker for home-field
1.Head-to-head, if applicable.
2.Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
3.Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
4.Strength of victory.
5.Strength of schedule.
6.Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
7.Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
8.Best net points in conference games.
9.Best net points in all games.
10.Best net touchdowns in all games.
11.Coin toss.
