I would say that's the Juilo Jones effect.

I think we'll give up some big plays but I think we can keep them to a minimum if we can effectively get to Ryan.

I might have saved that for SB preparations but still an absolutely genius move by Harbaugh - tapping into the intangibles

I like the timing of this because they haven't passed the NFCC yet. I believe we can't pull punches right now - motivational strategies might be preferential right now. I feel winning a SB is enough motivation, especially when you get there, but before that, this helps. I'm sure he'll have something else by that time. If this motivation helps 1% then it works. (They always talk about getting 1% better everyday - or was it every game or every week? Whatever.)

That's exactly the right mentality to take but CK is pretty impressive when it comes to avoiding big hits. He's pretty good about getting out of bounds and has a good feel when to slide.

He's taken some shots since he's been in but I've yet to see him take a really big brutal hit.

Yep, I noticed this. Someone mentioned how he left ten yards on the field when he went out of bounds on one play. He has the vision of a runningback, so I assume he saw it. I assume the coaching staff has been good to teach him not to be too greedy, as an injury takes away yards or games away later. Just trust in the system and yourself that you will get those yards later. He likely would have chanced it if it were the end of a game needing a field goal or ten away from the end zone needing a TD and running out of time (with a timeout in case he doesn't get there).

It's like how speeding won't get you there any earlier if you are pulled over for speeding. I drove to SF once at night with my brother-in-law and his girlfriend in another car sped to the hotel, only to get pulled over for a 250+ ticket. I was like, what were you going to do when you got there? Sit in the car waiting for me? (The hotel was under my name and her luggage was in my car.)

"Colin does a great job of continuing in his humility."

I don't mean this to be too negative, but I really don't buy the super-duper humble act that Kap puts forth in press conferences and such. When he gets asked questions about his good performances or plays, absolutely 100% of the time he defers to teammates.....even the most truly humble people around will at least acknowledge the things they do well.

I think he knows how he *should* or wants to act or be seen in the media, but goes a bit overboard trying to be like that. Its all fair enough - there are plenty of worse ways to act. But the whole deal kind of strikes me as insincere.....especially considering some of the other things we see out of him, whether kissing biceps or saying "don't sleep on me!" to his teammates on the sidelines.

thinking it and doing it are different matters, we'll see how well their D-line can contain, yet apply pressure?

cause wouldn't 'trying to contain him in the pocket' means less pass rush? wouldn't 'keeping someone to spy him' mean a LB has to stay closer to the LOS? if a LB stays close to the LOS, doesn't it open up the pass routes a little bit underneath?

if a Safety has to keep an eye on him running, then isn't the Safety less focused on double teaming a receiver?

seems like Kap doesn't need to be as 'HOT' with his passes, compared to Ryan?

it is the nature of the beast, all good professionals are confident in what they do. no matter the sport, you need it in order to succeed. the difference IMO, is how public you show this confidence?

Using it to get to the Super Bowl - Fair enough, that works as well!
