Tim Kawakami:

Asked RG Alex Boone what Greg Roman brings to the 49ers offense. "Amazingness?" Boone said, knowing he made up a word there.

Tim Kawakami:

What's clear: 49ers OL loves that Roman includes them in all discussions. Most OCs stick with the skill positions, Boone said. Not Roman.

Pretty impressive that he's near the top in yet another stat.

ESPN Stats and Information:

Your NFL leaders in lowest rate of passes underthrown/overthrown: Colin Kaepernick (13%), Matt Ryan (14%), Drew Brees (14%)

Do you remember Willis rushing Rodgers and Aldon dropping into coverage? Fangio does and Dilfer is a tool that pulled bullshit out of a hat.

Yea I do remember that play. I took it to mean we know Bowman or Willis or both will be in coverage. We rarely send one of them we mostly only send the outside guys. Of course against the Packers he have sent them both more frequently but other games not so much

Daniel Jeremiah:

SF personnel source told me that Kaepernick was always first guy in the building even when he wasn't starting. Off the charts work ethic

I am SO tired of hearing scouts, personnel people, draft experts and occasional hardcore fans use the term "first guy in the building." I swear each team has roughly 3-7 "first guy in the building" type of players. With that said, Kaepernick has always been extremely dedicated.

Do you think it's an exaggeration or do you think that being the "1st one in the building" doesn't equal being a hard worker.

He sent Willis at least three times. One was a sack and the other two forced Rodgers to run for his life and throw it out of bounds.

Yea he sends them against the Packers Fangio needs to send them against other teams as well IMO but he usually doesn't

I hear Pozz is the first guy on the board and last one to leave every day. Off the charts posting ethic.

there was at least one play where he sent two DB's, from the same side! one was Cox, but didn't catch the other number.

I was just looking earlier if Willis rushed and/or Bowman more than any other game this year. Obviously not all pass rushes are of the same variety, but I strictly wanted to see the breakdown.

Note: This is through the GB gameand not just regular season.

Total snaps

Willis - 1,057
Bowman - 1,079

Times rushing the passer (Pass rush %)

Willis - 78 (7.4%)
Bowman - 67 (6.2%)

-----------

GB - Willis (5 out of 48 plays = 10.4%) - Bowman (2 out of 59 plays = 3.4%)

DET - Willis (3 out of 65 = 4.6%) - Bowman (8 out of 65 = 12.3%)

MIN - Willis (5 out of 76 = 6.6%) - Bowman (6 out of 79 = 7.6%)

NYJ - Willis (4 out of 46 = 8.7%) - Bowman (5 out of 49 = 10.2%)

BUF - Willis (2 out of 41 = 4.9%) - Bowman (1 out of 41 = 2.4%)

NYG - Willis (4 out of 63 = 6.3%) - Bowman (7 out of 65 = 10.8%)

SEA - Willis (3 out of 55 = 5.5%) - Bowman (8 out of 56 = 14.3%)

AZ - Willis (11 out of 58 = 19.0%) - Bowman (8 out of 56 = 14.3%)

STL - Willis (6 out of 85 = 7.1%) - Bowman (4 out of 85 = 4.7%)

CHI - Willis (2 out of 59 = 3.4%) - Bowman (0 out of 59 = 0.0%)

NO - Willis (7 out of 71 = 9.9%) - Bowman (3 out of 70 = 4.3%)

STL - Willis (1 out of 72 = 1.4%) - Bowman (2 out of 73 = 2.7%)

MIA - Willis (6 out of 64 = 9.4%) - Bowman (2 out of 64 = 3.1%)

NE - Willis (7 out of 96 = 7.3%) - Bowman (5 out of 96 = 5.2%)

SEA - Willis (4 out of 60 = 6.7%) - Bowman (3 out of 58 = 5.2%)

AZ - Willis (1 out of 48 = 2.1%) - Bowman (0 out of 49 - 0.0%)

GB - Willis (7 out of 50 = 14.0%) - Bowman (3 out of 55 - 5.5%)

Do you think it's an exaggeration or do you think that being the "1st one in the building" doesn't equal being a hard worker.

S/N is Daniel Jeremiah that former scout that was on Rich Eisen podcast a few years ago?

It's just overused and I don't like the picture it paints for fans most of the time. Yes, I think you can be an early riser and still not be the hardest worker.

I'd rather hear about the type of work a player puts in and how dedicated they are to that work when they actually do work. I'm not of the belief that being the first one in and/or the last one to leave means you are the hardest worker in a particular facility.

I think many times in the NFL a person will use that term when referencing a player who works really hard, even if they are not literally the first person around every day. That's why I said I think it's overused. There's certain words in football and scouting that drive me crazy because they are way too often overused and don't paint the clearest picture for fans.

I'm not sure if Jeremiah was on Eisen's podcast but you are probably right because he is a former NFL scout and is an employee of NFL Network (or the NFL).

Yea I agree that it is an over used term but I always kinda liked it. Always made me feel good to know about a player (especially a 49ers player) that was a "gym rat" especially if that said player had immense physical talents.

And on Jeremiah I went to his twitter page and he is the same guy. NFL must have hired him recently because when I heard the podcast he wasn't working for them. Anyway thanks Pozz

I'd rather hear it said about a player than not said about a player. Don't get me wrong there.

Matt Barrows:

Mike Nolan on 49ers: "Greg Norman (sic), the offensive coordinator, does a great job at utilizing the players' strengths."

I'm sure many common 49ers fans will be running with this quote and poking fun of it like crazy. Argh!
