99 who hit him was the guy who broke his collar bone in the first game with the Bears. He was going in to hit him with intention to try and get him out of the game again. It was clear he did not try to avoid him but put a hit on him

So, he intended to injure him the first time?

Oh yeah? Did u hear him say that in the press conference? Or did he text that to u? U have no idea whether he was trying to hurt him or not. To me it just looks like a guy wanting to make a hit on a qb, nothing more nothing less. Except it was late and a penalty.

How are my nuts doing today?

Stalker.

Well here we have the tail wagging the dog. I expected no less a response from your inbred ass. As to the subject at hand, I love your train of thought, " Let's not call a penalty when a rule is broken " Great Idea!.:laugh3:

Yes, bc our defensive players have hardly any self control and discipline so it wouldn't surprise me to see us commit that very same foul. The team I root for has no barring on my opinion of this play.

Excellent answer! I agree 100% its nice to see a post without a homerism in it!

Reading comprehension, much? Am I not allowed to dislike a rule, or have an opinion on it??

Your implication is that the call should not have been made, and that is asinine, if a rule is broken you make the call. There is already to much judgment involved, refs make calls and fans need to understand that.

bump

If there was any intent, in a split-second scenario, it would be to force a turnover, not hurt someone. Rogers was over the ball for a second, no way to know for sure if it had come loose or not.

It's a foul, by rule, but it is pretty pussified.

My comment was regarding intent, which someone had just mentioned.

So where is the implication that it shouldn't have been called? As opposed to an opinion and dislike of the rule?

You just gonna keep following me around making an ass of yourself?

The intent was clear. He wanted a shot on the QB

Looked like a foul to me. I checked the rule book and yes, it was a foul.

I would agree if he actually hit Rodgers, but 99 just slid over the top of him. He was running at full speed when Rodgers went down.

But I can see your point. I thought the foul was for grazing his helmet. Still think it was a BS foul though.

He didn't start to go to the ground until after Rogers was completely down.

Here niners this is to restore your faith in the game. This is from Rams Hawks and no flag was thrown.

Always love to see a Ram (or a Seahawk) get blown up like that. Nice. :)

What bugs me about the hits to the head is that sometimes it's just a patter of a guy ducking into a hit. There's a difference between hitting someone in the head and just making contact with the helmet in an attempt to tackle a guy. According to the current rules that should have been a 15-yard penalty. And if that were Drew Brees back there returning punts it absolutely would've been.

They need to get rid of these stupid rules and make defense & tackling legal again. If your receiver is "defenseless," don't lead him into a guy who wants to take his head off. Check it down.

Yeah he was running fast when Rodgers went down. Then he slowed so that he could get as much of a piece of him as he could as he went down, landed on Rodgers and rolled over him. If he'd maintained his speed he would have gone right over the top. There was no reason for him to go low. There was no reason for him to land on Rodgers. It was a completely avoidable hit and an easy, predictable call.

Admittedly I'm presuming intent, but that's the way I see it.

Ok. I'll buy that explanation. One could argue he was trying to stop so he didn't hit Rodgers, but you make a valid point.

Ok. Pussiest personal foul of all time is still that "hit" in the Ravens / Vikings preseason game this year.

Preseason don't count. You know damn well everything's a penalty.

Yeah I know they put the kid gloves on in the preseason, but that foul against one of the CBs who barely ran into a Vikings' WR (after an incomplete pass) was absolutely pathetic. Even for preseason.
