New posters recommendation thread

I was just hoping to get them right as they responded.
I got maddogmark by asking him if he still participated in fantasy sports with ducky, esls, gagne and others. when he said yes, I told him I sent him an inquiry about how to join the league and it stuck. Derringer Eagle posted an OT winner thread and dare told him he sent his picks to his profile. I guess we have to get creative. My message to Devilishone was deleted in about 4 minutes but he saw it before it got deleted luckily.

Creative it is. Will be on the lookout! By the way, how cool is it to be headhunters, in a way?

Do we have some responsible mods here? If so, I'm up for being a little more lenient on who gets invited. Heated arguments are part of what makes a message board interesting. As long as we have someone vigilant and responsibible who can ban / IP ban, then I think we can avoid troll-type behaviour.

Obvioulsy no known trolls, and I can understand the desire not to get too many, let's say, Pens fans here because it just overwhelms the topics, but what's the problem with someone like HBK? Are they a troll or just a big homer Habs fan? Only used HBK as an example because I saw them on the first page of this thread.

Please don't kick me out for this opinion...

HBK is a rabid Leafs homer. We're all homers but he will say things like Gustavsson deserves the Calder more than Jimmy Howard.

There are 3 possible things going on there: 1) He is a troll. 2) He is such a homer that he is blinded to all reason. 3) He has no knowledge of hockey.

In any of the 3 scenarios he just doesn't contribute much, IMO.

That being said he doesn't seem to be the type to spam the boards constantly.

I think Dacks raises a good point, I think I've been around enough to give people considerable leeway when it comes to posting, trash talk is encouraged, racist and personal attacks will be addressed in short order.

Well obviously I was thinking of someone else. I'm pretty bad keeping track of posters.

But I still feel the same way. As long as they aren't spamming / intentionally trolling I don't mind a few village idiots.

Would it be OK if I invite couple guys from Soviet Sport boards?
Soviet Sport's are even worse than Mickey Mouse hockey board with sheer amount of maddogging and lack of functionality.
As a benefit we may get lots of firsthand KHL info (whatever I have comes from Russian news and highlights).

lol, I don't think anyone would ever consider that. I do see your point though.
I would rather go after people we trust first. We are pretty new here even though the numbers are huge and it has been way more successful than I ever thought possible, I would rather wait a bit until we give out the questionable invites. Just my opinion but if it happens, I wouldn't be mad about it.
