Redskins signed K Nick Rose.

Rose is replacing Dustin Hopkins, who has been sent to injured reserve with a hip issue. A 2016 UDFA out of Texas, Rose has never appeared in a regular season game. He was a 71.1 percent field goal kicker in the Big 12.

Oh shit. We couldn't do better than this?

Have faith guys, a Rookie who has never kicked in the NFL is better than Hopkins hobbling onto the field. And lets not forget Butker was a rookie who essentially beat us in the Chiefs game making 3 out of four, and giving them the go ahead score that eventually beat us.

So lets at least give the kid a chance.

I have no say but to give him a chance. My point is the best we could do is a rookie who only made 70% at the collegiate level?

MOst of the 95% kickers in college or the pro's are already on some one elses roster. Lets just hope he is good at kick offs, and the offense can score enough points where it WONT come down to the kicker until such time as he gets into a groove.

Strikes 2 and 3 are any missed kicks under 50 yards

See now you got me feeling it. We are going to beat the Eagles by one point on a 53 yard field goal with no time left. Winning field goal by....

Beyond the new signing, this is also a renewed test for Bruce Allen, his ability to fill needed spots as the season goes on, and (hopefully not) injuries mount. That QB that he signed was step one, but that guy had no real effect on the field, so, It truly begins with this guy.

Do you really think Allen decided which kicker to pick?

I'll be happy if he can just make every extra point. Not all can.

C'mon man, is this really how you want to do this? OK, then I counter with......that is generally the GM's job....to bring in guys for evaluation as potential signees. If this guy is not up to par then you have to question why is it that this, was the best of what Gruden and staff had to pick from. Fuck....time for a Snickers!

Ooh ooh ooh.. can I play.

Yes I get it, everything is Allen's fault. I have no love for the way he has handled several things. I just am not going to put SM up on a platform I don't believe he belongs on when it comes to the Redskins. They team has continued to get better since Gruden has been there or some of us think that and someone is responsible for that. I don't believe it is SM. Too early for a Snickers here. :thumb:

Agree. Picking a kicker is also tough. As others have mentioned this late in the season your choices are not going to be that great. Also - who in the hell knows if any given kicker is going to do well since that part of the game is primarily mental. How many kickers have we seen who have had an unbelievable season only to do poorly the following season? The reverse also happens & it is amazing how a change of scenery affects a kicker for better or worse.

No doubt these type of decisions are made jointly by the FO and coaching staff. As someone already mentioned we just have to hope for the best. Injuries suck, but unfortunately they are a fact of life in the NFL & you just have to pray & hope for the best.
