Fell to 4th. Pierre McGuire calls it the steal of the draft.

Happy Day. Got our future dman. Time to get back in the playoffs.

I cannot believe he was available at 4. He will be playing on this team next season. Can't say that about most of these top picks.

I was goin nuts when the Avs picked LDSKOG. I was convinced they were the only larsson threat because how can Edmonton not concede to the RNH furry, and i figured Florida needs a forward to sell to their fans.

Adam Larsson should be exactly what we need. Right handed shot for the PP (THANK GOD) Makes great passes. Has huge size. Already playing against men. Supposed to be better than Hedman w/ more offense but slightly less skating ability.

Also, for those who are worried about Larsson's point totals in the SEL.

Here's the points for our other Sweedes when we drafted them: BOLD YEARS ARE THEIR TOTALS IN THE YEAR BEFORE WE DRAFTED THEM.

Tedenby:
07-08: 23GM: 3G, 3A
08-09: 32GM: 3G, 1A
09-10: 44GM: 12G, 7A

JJ:
50GM: 5G, 11A
43GM: 8G, 12A

Also: His point totals are very comparable to Hedman at this point.

Finally, Nicklas Lidstrom himself, yes that Lidstrom only scored 4G, 19A in is last year in the SEL. He was 2 years older than Larsson is now. In the year Lidstrom was drafted, he had 2A, and that was it in 20 games.

Tallinder became my favorite on D last year, so hopefully the Swede connection will help and Larsson can transition well to the pros in year 1. Shocked at how some of the players dropped as far as they did. Teams must know something we don't.

MC. Very interesting facts. I know guys like Cup were hoping center. To be honest I had thought no chance Larsson would be available so I also was set on a center. But we have to look at this as a gift from above....sort of like Nieds let's hope

I agree that Larsson is exactly what this team needed.

i'd have loved a center also.

i looked at us as having 2 needs. a center and a PUCK MOVING D.

the ability to move it out with great first passes, and the ability to maintain pressure and contribute offensively.
our transition game just stepped up for sure.

has anyone else noticed that since the end of game # 41 of this season, literally everything that you could reasonably imagine has gone our way. someone is smiling on us.

Agreed, now we just need the right coach and all the dominoes will have fallen (assuming Parise is healthy).

Thanks. I just wanted to make it exceptionally clear that you can't compare 70pt CHL defensemen like Murphy to Larsson.

Congrats!! Winning the Lottery certainly helped the Devils in a HUGE way. I knew someone would fall to 4.

I can't complain though. My team might have lost the 4th pick, but Strome is one heck of a consolation prize.

Regarding us needing a center, I have two main points

1. Patrik Elias is going to play center again. As long as Parise is still on this team it's a total waste to let Elias play 15min /game. He's going to have to center Kovy, offset Kovy's atrocious Corsi+, and help along whoever goes in on the right side.

2. JJ is going to be the 3rd line center at worst, and even that assumes total stagnation on his part. He could easily hit 40 pts this season getting second line minutes. You could even move Patrik to right side if you really want on a line with JJ and Kovy. JJ has tools, and all he needs now is consistency. He's a really nice passer as evidenced from his minimal time with the big team, now he just needs some confidence and minutes. The rest will come. JJ is already better than any 3rd line center we've had in years.

Bonus Point: Having an 80 pt #1 center would be really nice, but I'm Travis Zajac's #1 fan. Everything he does screams "W". We don't need an 80 pt center to play with Kovy and Elias. We need a 2nd line center because Zajac and Parise are the top line for the next 3 years once Zach get's inked.

Thank you. Winning that lottery seems about 11x as important now as it did when it happened.

Final point of the night: Even Niedermayer played the season after getting drafted in the minors. Playing 4 games in NJ at some point. I don't know if it was at the end of the beginning.
