So whats his record as a coach then? Someone tell me we just went out and hired a popular name that would sell some extra tickets for a few games

This is not a coaching hire, it's a good ol' boy appointment. Head coaching jobs at Nebraska are now up for the highest bidder.

Have no fear fellas.......it's Tom mutha fuckin Osborne we're talkin about here............he has a plan.

I'm not so much focused on Erstad as much as I am on who his assistants will be. Not to mention, I've never been big on hiring big name coaches in any sport.......I am more for hiring someone who has some sort of tie with the program. But that's just me though

if you call only having one year of coaching experience as a tie like another coach had.

When does hiring a big name coach ever really pay off? Yea, you have a winning season, but you never win championships...........they just don't bring any passion to a program in any sport because all they really care about is gettin that paycheck.

:L @ comparing Bo's exp to Erstad's, and that wasnt even my point

You go after the best guy (not biggest name) regardless of previous ties

I wasn't comparing the two...I just commenting on JJM's need to go after people with ties and I don't consider a year coach having "ties" to the university.

This really sucks. I read he was quoted as saying he needs to bring in a 'stud' recruiter obviously because he has no clue. As posted earlier, money can buy you a coaching job. I guess I better open my wallet. The only positive I see is if he learned how to manage from Mike Scioscia then he will excel.

Listen guys, Osborne knows what he's doin.............here Erstad and Bolt were both candidates fighting against each other for the job, and now we're gonna have both of them. Two birds with one stone, and building on tradition all at the same time............sounds like something Tom Osborne would do to me. I'm excited.

TO is just so much about tradition.........and I guess that's the same way I am. I can't claim that this is the right hire, but it's definitely the hire I would have made..........cuz that's just how I am, a traditional fellow
