Agree. And I wouldn't hold a 19 year old kid responsible for every poor comment or stupid act he did or didn't do in a fit of anger. Plus, this story our after decades have gone by is a bit of a stretch. I can't even remember what I was mad about last week. But, I know I was right!:suds:

God bless always being right.

You think he's changed :laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3::laugh3:

He's grown up a lot since this story. I've heard him on the radio a few times and he comes across as a decent guy now. I doubt there are many of us who could say they never did stupid things as a teenager, so why should we be surprised when athletes do?

Homer!

;) No, that's true and a good point. The only problem is this wasn't the only time he was a jerk over the next decade after that.

D'oh!

Lindros was definitely a jerk (as were his parents I believe) for quite a few years. But I never pay attention to off-ice stuff - who really cares about that (except in some obvious extreme cases) so all I saw was that he played well for the most part and helped the Flyers get to the Cup finals. Would have been nice if they had won, but I think Paul Stewart was the ref in that series so............:lol:

I read his book, and I thought he came across as pretty decent. Yes, I know he had a writer to help, but still. Since he stood his ground (right or wrong) he faced a lot of shit. And being an arrogant guy, he could have gotten in a lot worse trouble.

One story he told was some team he was playing in Bantam or Junior (don't remember which) and the team had someone else who wore #88. And the in rink PA guy kept saying "Goal by *OUR* #88, so-and-so", etc. All game long, "*OUR #88" "OUR #88". And their #88 was chirping the whole game. So he got annoyed by it and laid out their #88. As the kid laid on the ice, he made a "gunslinger" gesture and blew on his glove and acted like he put it in a holster. The next day, the story in the paper was about the "Vicious and unprovoked attack" on their #88, how Lindros was a showboat and it suggested that Eric was just jealous that the other #88 was just as good.

If it was me, not only would I have laid the guy out, I may have fallen on him and slashed him as I got up. And then gone into the stands to slap his mother.

Yeah, but anyone can seem nice in a book they write about themselves. ;) Check out this passage from my autobiography...

My sister had a cat, and the cat birthed a litter of kittens. Must've been 8 of them, and there was this one little runt... this little sweet little... little-engine-that-could runt... who wanted to get up there and couldn't really get access to the-- to the-- to the-- to the-- to the teat. What have you. I went in and just simply, you know, just-- into a little saucer, then took the saucer and fed it to Geppetto-- that's what I named him.

True. My autobiography starts like this:

Now, on the day I was born... the nurses all gathered 'round. And gazed in wide wonder, at the joy they had found. The head Nurse spoke up - said "leave this one alone". They could tell right away. I was bad to the bone.
