Neuvirth is out for 4 - 6 weeks. That takes us to the middle or end of the December schedule. That is a lot of games if you look at the schedule. Mason can and has thrived when simply ridden like a rented mule, but considering neither he nor Neuvirth have been able to really step up so far this season...could we finally see Stolarz in a game?
There are two prime opportunities based on the schedule. The Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving the Flyers play back to back in Florida and in Tampa Bay. He could very well get one of those. Then, in December, provided that Neuvirth has not returned, the weekend of the 3rd and 4th, they have the Blackhawks at home on Saturday at 1pm and the Preds on the road on Sunday. The following weekend they have Dallas at home on Saturday at 1pm and the Red Wings on the road on Sunday.
All in all, we are very likely to see someone other than Steve Mason in net for at least one of the above mentioned games. What all this means to the season overall and the teams progress in general, it is too early to say.
