I haven't done one of these in a while (since august). If you want to see that one click HERE
Defensive Commits:
Trai Mosely 3-Star CB
Luke Gifford 3-Star ATH
Joshua Kalu 3-Star S
Peyton Newell 4-Star DT
*Mick Stoltenberg (starting OL) 3-Star ATH
Defensive Needs: DT, DE, CB, LB
DT
Claudeson Pelon: 4-Star JUCO (Mesa, AZ) If the name sounds familier it should. Nebraska has been knocking on his door for quite some time now. Pelon was supposed to visit for the Northwestern game but canceled just before he was supposed to come. Sounds like Tosh Lupoi has his hands in this one and won't let go. Safe bet is that he is off to be s Husky sooner rather than later.
Joe Keels: 4-Star JUCO (Highland, KS) Keels committed to Wisconsin fairly quickly in the process and will be a tough pull for Nebraska. However, he has scheduled an official visit for the Michigan State game and if Nebraska can somehow beat Michigan and MSU the next few weeks that could give Keels something to think about. Keels also has said he is going to visit West Virginia. He is a long shot but Nebraska will keep on him.
Jarran Reed: 4-Star JUCO (Chatham, VA) Reed was committed to Ole Miss in December but decommitted in february, and signed with Florida just before signing day. Reed failed to qualify academically so he was forced to go the JUCO route. Nebraska and a number of SEC teams jumped into the mix. It's hard to say how interested Reed is in Nebraska but he speaks nicely of the Huskers when asked. I wouldn't read too much into it until he decides to visit.
Josh Frazier: 4-Star (Springdale, AR) Frazier is an interesting target for Nebraska. Multiple times he has said he plans on visiting but he has yet to set up a date to do so. If he does it would likely be either the MSU or Iowa games since he wants to see a gameday atmospher. Nebraska is a really long shot on this one but getting him to visit woul dbe huge.
Terrell Clinkscales: 4-Star JUCO (Dodge City, KS) Nebraska has yet to offer Clinkscales but one of the top JUCO DTs in the country would definitely listen if and when they do. Clinkscales has burst onto the scene this season out of JUCO and has all the abilities to be a difference maker at the next level. He sent his transcripts in to be reviewd by Nebraska and feels they could be close to an offer. Nebraska needs to move swiftly if they are to gain any traction right now. Oregon, Kansas State, Arkansas and Penn State recently offered. Texas Tech looks to be in the lead thus far.
Another Name? Zaycoven Henderson
DE
Renell Wren: 3-Star (Saint Louis, MO) Wren is an intrigueing prospect. He has all the abilities of a pass-rush DE and the body of a run stuffing playmaker on the edge. Wren currently has a top three of Nebraska, Purdue and Arizona State. Michigan State is waiting on the wings. Nebraska needs to pull Wren in on an official visit to have a realistic shot but the athletic DE really likes Nebraska and if he visits that could seal the deal.
Devante Bond: 3-Star JUCO (Rocklin, CA) Bond originially committed to Miami but couldn't get in due to academic issues. He's getting those things cleared up now and has retaken to recruiting. It has done Nebraska well as they got back into it and got Bond's second of two visits (first was Oklahoma) for the Northwestern game. Bond loved his time here and really enjoyed rooming with Randy Gregory on the trip. It seems like it's down to Nebraska and Oklahoma and a decision could happen any moment for the athletic DE. He is a semester enrollee as well.
Darius Slade: 2-Star (Montclair, NJ) Nebraska has been trying to get a foot in the door in New Jersey for the last two years with limitted success. However, Slad offers an opportunity and the athliticism to help. A bit underszied Sladd provides a tough and engaging pressence on either side of the line and has a knack for pass rushing and good angles. Slade will be visiting Nebraska for the Iowa game but will also have visits to MSU, WVU and Kansas before that.
LB
Fred Warner: 3-Star (San Marcos, CA) Warner is currently a BYU commit but has been known to be looking around for quite some time. Nebraska is hoping to get a visit from him as are a host of other schools. Warner has blown up a bit in his senior season and Nebraska has jumped on the opportunity to pursue him.
Jaevon Walton: 2-Star LB (New Orleans, LA) Walton is currently committed to Louisiana-Lafayette and has been exploding on the recruiting scene recently. Walton visited Nebraska during the Northwestern game and had a great time with good friend Cethan Carter on the trip. Walton plays for powerhouse Edna Karr and has been a bit lost in the shuffle recruiting wise because he's had to move around so much and shift schools. Missouri and Nebraska are courting him hard and it looks like Nebraska is winning.
CB
Raymond Wingo: 4-Star (Saint Louis, MO) Wingo continues to be a top target for Nebraska out of Saint Louis and will likely take a visit some time after the season is over. However, it looks like Arkansas is ahead on this one as he has set up an official visit in December with the Razorbacks. However, given their current struggles Nebraska could make a play here depending on what they do on the field. Wingo is emmensly talented but is a long shot until Nebraska can get him on campus.
Shyquan Pulliam: 3-Star JUCO Pulliam was a Penn State commit before failing to qualify academically and going the JUCO route. Nebraska offered him recently. Haven't heard anything more other than he is fairly interested.
Other names to note: Josh Keys, Danzel McDaniel (JUCO), Parrker Westphal, David Jenkins (JUCO), Deandre Scott (S)
