3rd down you run it and the clock bleeds down to 20 seconds. Instead they pass it.

4th down if you kick the field goal with a kicker who is on fire right now, you win. Instead they go for it.

It's concerning. I'm concerned that Mike Riley is old enough that maybe he's not sharp enough to make quick decisions. Honestly. I'm being serious.

Danny Langsdorf has achieved idiot status for the crappy play calling in the 4th quarter. Tommy was struggling throwing in any sort of wind, head wind or tail wind, so keep on throwing.

Then, the final drive, with Illinois out of timeouts, two incomplete passes to stop the clock and give the ball back to Illinois.

There was no thought process that went into it. Nobody thought at all. They just went ahead and ran a pass play because they thought it would put the game away if they got a first down.

At no point did Mike Riley and staff look up at the clock and say, "well, if we run it here, they have 0 timeouts left......so we'll run the clock all the way down."

They just ran a pass play, without even thinking about it at all. ZERO thought went into it. It was a play that was called as if it were in the middle of the 1st quarter or something.

First off, TA is a good QB, not a top level QB like some people believe. Secondly, the play calling was crappy the whole game. Early on, 3 or 4 drives were wasted by allowing TA to throw deep passes on 3rd down plays that only a few yds were needed. Calahan WOULD have done better.

I'm still going to give Riley every chance, because what else can we do. It's just like the past 2 staffs......you support them until they're out the door, or you don't follow your team at all.

But I'll call it how I see it. Right now this staff seems inept for this. They need to really look in the mirror and figure out what the fuck is going on here.
