After round 1, I give them a B+. It was the right choice and hopefully he becomes a staple on the line for a long time. Whether at T or G. Love his attitude "I'll bleed or die to protect my QB".

RD 1 = A

LT was there greatest position of need and they selected the LT with the most promise. It's not glamorous but its what they needed to do

Yeah I agree with the overblown arm length and wingspan issue. 1 to 3 inches? Sounds like something that be overcome with his other skills and size. Maybe less prone to holding with shorter arms? Heheh…

I'm having a hard time giving an A just for not overthinking. I know the Jags moving up threw off the ability to trade for value and "get their guy". Jeanty was a luxury so no dings for not taking him. B is the best I can do while I mutter to myself "fuck Mayo for winning a game the other team was throwing".

Yep. Looking at the way things moved, could have traded the 1st overall for 4 or something like that, still gotten Campbell and another pick, maybe a 2nd? No use crying over spilled milk, though.

NFL.com, ESPN and another media group give the Jets an A+ rating for Membou and passed out A's like Halloween candy until it came the Will Campbell being a Patriots.......B-.

Patriot hate still lingers.

If I were Vrabel, the first thing I'd be telling my coaching staff is this. "Nobody has a single word for any media. Boston or otherwise. One statement and one statement only. "You guys are all fucking experts. Nothing I say will be of any value. No comment!" If you feel that you must engage with them and be their friend, please submit your resignation immediately.

Then I'd close the media rooms and the press conference room and have security tell them all to leave immediately.

Then I'd tell Kraft that practices and locker rooms and meeting are no longer open to the media. Fuck Roger Goodell. Close the door until the league forces me with draft pick losses. Then I'd tell the team not to be friendly with any of them and be very careful when speaking with them It could be career ending.

Or they can not pay attention to any of it. Play dumb to baiting questions and give a transparent discussion for legit questions. Unlike BB, politely respond "I believe that's been addressed and I have nothing else to add", the annoying repeated followup questions land.

Nah...malicious compliance.
"We are just trying to do what we feel is best for the team. We are now focused on our remaining draft picks and how the rest of draft unfolds."

Sounds a bit extreme. Just drive home the approved talking points for players and staff, keep the focus on ignoring the talking heads and winning. I absolutely believe Vrabel will instill the discipline that was lacking last few years.

Well you guys got your guy. I think at the end of the day this was the most logical place to arrive in just staying put and taking your highest graded OT in the entire draft. Campbell was not my highest graded Tackle, but he comes with the fewest questions (arm length really being about the only one) and offers probably the most day 1 impact of any tackle in this draft.

Hindsight what it is if I knew that Simmons was going to fall to the end of round 1 I might have taken Jeanty then traded back up ahead of pick 32 and taken Simmons, but there is no way to know as a team that is going to happen.

Yeah, like I said it's not a glamours pick but it's the correct pick. What I liked all along about the young man was coachability, he has the tools but can and seems willing to improve on his game

It was the most logical pick, the safest pick, and the easiest pick to make. We have other fish to fry but we started with the biggest fish.
