SUMMER 2018
Played for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team that went 12-3 overall in three series against Chinese Taipei, Japan and Cuba…Made three appearances (one in each series) with one start...Went 1-0 with a spotless ERA of 0.00 in 8.2 innings…Allowed just three hits and struck out seven while walking five…Opponents hit just .107 against him…Started against Chinese Taipei in the 18th USA vs. Chinese Taipei International Friendship Series on 6/30, posting three hitless innings while not allowing a run, striking out four and walking two…Came on in relief in the seventh inning against Japan on 7/9 in 42nd USA vs. Japan Collegiate All-Star Series…Entered with the game tied and pitched three scoreless innings to help extend it to extra innings…Allowed just one hit, walked three and struck out two…Got out of a bases loaded, one-out jam in his first inning of work…Earned the win in series-clinching game of the 7th annual USA-Cuba International Friendship Series, working 2.2 innings while allowing two hits and striking out one...Also pitched two games for the Brewster Whitecaps in the Cape Cod League before joining the Collegiate National Team, allowing two earned runs, five hits, three walks and striking out four in 5.2 innings.

SUMMER 2018
Served as a two-way player for the Brazos Valley Bombers of the Texas Collegiate League…Primarily focused on pitching, posted a 2-0 record with a 4.05 ERA in seven games with three starts…Struck out 11 and allowed just eight hits in 13.1 innings…Opponents hit just .163 against him…Did not allow more than three earned runs in any appearance…Found his footing after his first outing…Had a WHIP of 1.05…Appeared as a position player nine times, hitting .212 with three runs, four RBI and a triple in 33 at bats...Drew four walks and stole a base.

Appeared in 48 games, drawing 34 starts in right field and as the designated hitter…Hit .242 with 30 runs, nine doubles, three home runs, 20 RBI and 13 walks…Stole two bases in three attempts, was hit by five pitches and had three sacrifice flies and sacrifice bunts…Registered seven multi-hit games and four multi-RBI games…Had some bad luck on well-hit balls, as his batting average on balls in play (BABIP) was just .284…Was scorching hot early in the season, hitting .378 before he was hit in the face with a pitch on 3/4/18 vs. Louisiana in the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic…Had three RBI in just his second start of the season on 2/18 vs. Evansville…Had a career-high four RBI on 2/25 vs. Oakland during a 2-for-3 day with three runs scored, a double, home run, walk and HBP…The Texas native went 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, a double and home run on 3/2 vs. No. 19 Houston in his first game back in the state…Smoked a career-high four hits on 3/27 vs. Miami (Ohio)…Had one of the best at bats of the season when, as a pinch hitter, he fouled off four two-strike pitches with two outs in the ninth inning on 4/13 at No. 18 Georgia, eventually drawing a walk to extend the inning as the Cats tied the game and went on to win in extra innings…Made his first career pitching appearance vs. Vanderbilt on 5/17, allowing three hits and two runs in an inning of work.

Appeared in 37 games with 23 starts…Hit .259 with 10 runs scored, six doubles, a triple and two home runs…With nine walks and three HBPs he posted an OPS of .787…Also had four sacrifices and a stolen base…Started 10 games in right field, seven in left field and six as the designated hitter…Had a .787 OPS…Made his UK debut on 2/16 at Wofford…Scored a season-high two runs on 2/23 vs. Oakland while also stealing a base…Knocked in a season-high two runs vs. Louisiana (3/4) and logged a triple…His two home runs on the season came in back-to-back games against Missouri on 4/28 and 4/29…In the team’s eighth inning comeback win on Kole Cottam’s grand slam it was Shinn who led off the inning with a solo home run that generated momentum…Had two hits, including a double, vs. Auburn in the SEC Tournament.
