Yeah so many great players.
Like every other sport, golf has the best players today than in the past, it's almost a tautology, humans get better at things over time, and as the money grows exponentially so does the talent and training and all the rest. Modern MLB/NFL/NBA/golf whatever else, the players today are on average simply better than back in the day. That doesn't mean the greats of old weren't great, just that today more players are good to great.

Oh Nicklaus and Tiger in their primes would still outplay these guys but it damn sure wouldn’t happen as often, just too many on any given day.

Right that's kind of what I said, the greats from before would be great today just a lot tougher competition. Like you said a major today is like 3 with Jack. Average skill is better today, like all sports.

Technology has changed the game, I can only imagine Nicklaus with today’s clubs. People that were there have said the first time they saw him hit a golf ball it was like nothing they ever saw before. All these guys owe a great debt to those guys, the money is crazy now. That’s one of the reasons iI don’t like the LIV stuff, all the tradition in golf just means so much.

It's why I hate comparing eras. Great players from the past would still be great today because they would be able to take advantage of the advanced medicine, training methods, money, etc. that weren't available in their era.

If players from today came up during previous eras...they'd still be great, but they'd look and play like the greats from those eras.

That’s one of the great things about golf to me, over time the cream always rises to the top in majors.

I don't hate that, part of the fun of sports to me is the arguing that stuff. But yeah, no way to truly know how players from different eras would play if they were in different times. We can be pretty sure they'd be great in any era.

I just don't like takes that say 'the old time had better players, today they suck' because the opposite is true

know exactly what you are saying. I think golf is a bit exempt from that though right? I mean we know Nicklaus was great but I don’t hear people saying anyone else from era was a top 5 player all time. Not anymore. The truth is very few people played golf back in those days. They paved the way.

It's fun to make those comparisons to a point...for example...we can see what Magic might have been like with today's advances available to him by looking at Lebron. But some folks want to do "Hot Tub Time Machine" type comparisons.

Yeah, some folks act like humans get smaller and slower from generation to generation. lol

I'd say golf too. I don't really follow golf, but I know there is better equipment than existed in the past and I'd assume there have been advances in training techniques as well as more money.

I assume that like other sports, pro golfers in the past had regular jobs that they worked when they weren't in tournaments because they couldn't make enough just from golf. If that's correct, just having the money to be able to concentrate solely on golf would be a big factor.

These days, it seems every pro grew up in a gated community on a golf course (at least the Americans). Seems like the vast majority come from privilege.

Very successfully

The Dems painting all Republicans as white trash is part of why they lose swing states.

Disagree. They lose swing states because they just don't care enough to put in the work when they can instead focus on issues that don't affect enough voters. And in this most recent case, their opponent was purging voter rolls and buying votes.

Yeah there's a lot of Dems (and Reps) that don't understand what actually happened last year, or in 2016 (or 2020). Not surprised you're one of them.

Let's take this to the PF though
