No idea, I didn’t say that that didn’t intend on him playing when they signed him. Somewhere along the way they fell in love with Penix and Penix is going to get every chance to be the guy sooner rather than later. That’s my opinion anyway.

Like most predictions, soon we will see if you are correct. I doubt Penix plays this year except in blowouts or if Cousins gets hurt.

The falcons are a horrible franchise. They can act like they have a plan now all they want, they dont. Penix will be 24 before the season starts. That’s not a guy you take planning on sitting him 3 years. Someone will want this guy playing.

Who said 3 years? At least 1 year, then maybe move off Cousins. The money is too big and like others have said they don't want to be like the Broncos and Russell Wilson. And if Cousins plays well he probably is the guy again next year. By year 3 they can move on without much cost. Jordan Love sat a long time, Penix can sit 2 years. Not like he's some can't miss Caleb type.

But as I said, the season will unfold and we'll see what happens. Could go the way you say, it's not some crazy idea.

Not sure what the issue is with the Falcons taking Penix (other than it seems high).

I get they signed Cousins to a big contract, but he's 36 and injury prone.

Penix gets a couple of years to learn, maybe play if Cousins gets hurt. It would be similar to what the Packers did with Love.

Difference is Rodgers was already on the roster and they missed a chance to improve their current roster
