looks like a long year for Navy

I have no idea what's happened to them they have absolutely no talent anymore.

Two years ago they were still solid but just fell off a cliff last year.

disappointing, Navy's my favorite academy.

I love how if you call out something that is clearly bullshit it's because you are "butthurt"

No, it's because it's fucking wrong. Special consideration for ND is wrong. Join a God Damned conference and play by the same rules as everyone else.

 it's easier to make it into BCS bowls if youre in a conference, don't be so ignorant.

Of course you'll defend the practice of having special rules for ND since it benefits your team but it's wrong.

I'm IRISH for Christ's sake. I want to like ND but until they stop getting preferential treatment it just can't happen.

I honestly feel like Army, Navy and Air Force should be the only independents.

Well Idaho as well because no one wants them and their tater celler stadium in their conference.

I am Greek and root for Michigan State because of it....

Deflection. Why is it wrong?

deflection is your post stating deflection.

I deflected nothing. ND not being in a conference and getting special rules that allow them to pass up more deserving teams for a BCS game is completely wrong and total bullshit.

Join the Big East for all I care. Just play by the same rules.

We have to be ranked in the top8. Conferences teams don't even have to be ranked at all to automatically qualify. 4 loss BE teams AQ, a UCLA team with a losing record almost did last year. We play by harder rules. So if that makes the way we AQ wrong well...

that's just for an auto bid

if you're in the top12, you'll always be picked.

You get an autobid over teams with better records. There should be no way ND gets in any bowl game until they decide to play be the same rules.

Why doesn't BYU get the same rule?

Why not any other independent?

Only special rules for ND.

Jesus... Gameday guys saying ND goes to a BCS game with 9 wins... This is the kind of shit that makes people hate ND.

It's funny, because if anyone else played their schedule people would be screaming "you need to reward teams for playing tough schedules."

If they can win ten games with that schedule, they definitely belong in the BCS. With nine, it depends on how other teams do, but I could definitely see a scenario where they belong in a BCS game.

Any other school has that same opportunity.

I could see it with 10 wins, not with 9

You reward teams for winning with tough schedules

you got in over teams with one loss when teams only played 11 games.

Now that there are 12 games it is easily conceivable that you'll get in with three and possibly four depending on the level of media bias you receive (which is usually pretty significant)

Oregon could conceivably go 12-0 lose the conference championship game and not get a BCS game while ND gets in with 3 losses....

Tell me that's not wrong.

If they go 9-3, with their only losses being @ MSU, @ Oklahoma, and @ USC, that is BCS worthy. Most teams don't play one game that tough, yet alone three. If that happens, they'd also have several decent to good wins (Purdue, Michigan, Stanford, BYU, and Pitt).

They'd be about 10,000 times more worthy of a BCS game than Virginia Tech and Michigan were last year.

Oregon can also lose 6 games but win the PAC and go to the Rose Bowl. Aren't hypotheticals fun?
