CBJ captain Rick Nash has been fined $2,500 for his high stick on Calgary's Mark Giordano

That's the max under the current CBA. No suspension, and I'm ok with that (although it was pretty nasty and blatant).

That's fair. Been thinking we fans are getting too wussy with the suspension calls. Rypien shoved a fan and we're all (me too) calling for his head. But if I was that fan that would've made my night.

Was Giordano spitting out chicklets? I remember seeing Ray Bourque do that in the first period of a game and sure enough, he was back out there in the second (not uncommon in the NHL). Yeah, hockey players are tougher than me.

I sure hope we're not headed to wiffle ball - At the same time, I hope guys don't resort to stick work instead of body checks because they fear the punishment of a perceived headshot will be worse than laying the lumber on a player.

All the leagues are going haywire with this shit. Ya got players fighting the leagues over the rule changes. Ya got guys crying/whining... What the hell do you do? NFL is turning into a civil war, and the NHL just always looks ridiculous because nothing is ever balanced.
