I do this exercise every year with a group of guys where we take over a team (or two or three, some years depending on how many people we can pull) and do a full mock off season. We tag players, offer tenders, cut players, bid on and sign free agents, trade players, and do a full draft and UDFAs.

We froze the rosters not long after the Super Bowl. Flacco ended up getting cut in this exercise, so I ended up not having to give up a pick for him. I signed DT back before the news about his incident came out. I used the shotgun spray approach, hoping that I would strike gold with a couple guys and they would contribute above their salary. We are towards the end of the 5th round in the draft, so I have a couple of picks left. I planned on using them maybe for DL or rush LB depth. Maybe I will throw a dart at an OL, not positive yet.

This is what I did for Denver so far this year...

I’m always amazed at the time you put into this. A couple notes:
1. Really like your draft so far
2. Getting Flacco for $2 million was especially shrewd. ;)
3. If you don’t draft a DB soon, DC will disown you.
4. If you don’t draft an interior OL soon, I will disown you.

Good job, my friend.

Just for you...

6.182 - C Alec Eberle, Florida State University

I haven't had OL or CB high on my draft needs list because I grabbed a few in Free Agency. But I was targeting a center prospect and I like what I read about this guy. 3 year starter and 2 time captain.

Well, that is a work of love. after seeing the real prices of the players this year they might need to slow down on the pricing of seats. Good lord how much for a nose bleed seat?

You better draft a Bosie ST player if you want my stamp of approval We are out of Boise ST players. I believe.

So, with my last pick, I need to find a DB who can play teams from Boise St. Then, I make the whole board happy!

They can still trade him and get out of the deal. Just can't cut him now.

No he isn't the other one I was talking about. Broncos have talked to some teams about him but I think teams are waiting until they know he is healthy.

Vernon Butler is the other one I was talking about. Fangio loved him before that draft but couldn't quite convince Fox to trade up for him. He hasn't quite lived up to his draft spot so Broncos are trying to find those type of guys that they think their superior coaching could really help them live up to their potential.
