my f'n Post Game Thoughts

OK...here goes

1st, the defense cannot stop a duel threat QB with the package that Pelini plays with. Forget about athletes, forget about David, Dennard, Et Al. Cannot be done. No team can rush 4 guys 85% of the time & play 2 high safeties a majority of the game and expect to get off the field. Credit Northwestern for working the middle of the field until we adjusted...we didn't. They killed us on crossing routes over the middle, they killed us with that huge bomb early in the 4th & if you watch this film over again, you will see that 0 catches of significance were made outside the hash-marks. NONE. They ran the ball right down our throats, and why not? We only played with 6, maybe 7 in the box all game.

i love BO (Heteroishly) but shit, make a fucking adjustment. It isn't Kirk Cousins out there with his 5.7 40 time. You rush 4, drop everyone else into match up zone coverage & the backers are watching the WR's....NOT THE QB!!! Culter breaks the front 4 he's out the gate (or Persa for that matter).

Offensively, we were dominated up front. Credit to the Cats for that. Rex looked banged up, as mentioned in other threads. Martinez made some poor choices on reads, the 3 freshmen carried the ball all of 1, maybe 2 times??? WHAT?

The only bright spot for our offense, and it pains me to admit this, is our passing game. I was very impressed with Martinez today, throwing the ball to try and keep us in it. I would even go as far as to say that THIS was his best passing performance as a husker...better than Okla St. Not as great in terms of numbers, but greater in terms of significance. He threw very well all game, especially when we needed it most.

Oh and FYI, we will beat Penn St. They are the style of team (like Mich St.) that we can physically control. Their offense won't do much against us. They will run, and run, I get that. They will throw for under 120 against us...maybe rush for 150. Bank on that. Our offense will be able to score on them, they arent any better than Mich St. or THE Ohio State on defense, thats for damn sure...

Michigan will beat us unless we adjust to a QB who can scramble (haven't done it since...I can't remember when). Iowa is exacty like Penn St./Mich St. with a worse defense. So we win that one too.

2-1 finish, maybe 3-0 if our coaching staff swallows their pride & adjusts. If it ain't broke don't fix it yes...but it ain't workin' against Denard, he'll rush for 300 yards against us if we stop being foolish. The scheme is great, it really is a masterful scheme...just not against mobile QB's.

Shit remember the UT game last year? Their POS QB ran for like 95 yards against us because of our scheme. No one talks about that as a reason why that game was lost, we never adjusted.

Basically our defense is just pure shit. I didn't think we'd have to see this pure dogshit anymore from our defense. WE CAN'T TACKLE.

Just watch these two SEC teams going at it tonight. They fill gaps.......and they tackle through the ball carrier.......not with the ball carrier.

Nebraska isn't doing that this year.

Our front 4 isn't good enough to allow runners to "buy time"...our coverage, for the most part has been phenomenal on the outside the last 3 games. Down the middle is a different story all together, but still...when I see a mobile QB looking, looking, looking against our scheme, I am always thinking....oh shit, here we go again. Our rush lanes are terrible & our LB's are chasing slot receivers....result=chunks of yards.

Wouldn't you agree that if these 2 teams go undefeated after this week, they should play each other again in the National Championship. Sorry Boise, Stanford and OSU. LOL.
