sure in theory that sounds great however you cant break the bank for a riley when they are limited resources and you have some key players you need to get signed in the next few years . sure overpay for a rak but we can get the equal of of riley at better then the contracts being discussed

i see riley much like i see rocky mccintosh a few years ago . a decent LB for us who thought he could get better money somewhere else . he did and we let him go . his career went south and we moved on to say someone like riley

i dont need a better player then riley his equal is fine and we should get that for cheaper with the ILBs i have mentioned with spikes and dane fletcher at the top of the list

so let riley play the market . he will either leave or come back at our price . either way we will be ok

I think Riley is better than McCintosh. Listen, we don't know what Riley's agent is asking. IF we can structure a deal like shark has put together that gets him signed for relatively low money in the first few years but also gives us an inexpensive out if he doesn't live up to the contract, I say go for it. The problem is when you start doing that for everyone, next thing you know, you are in Cowboy hell. Its a slippery slope.

then that contract should be front loaded .not back loaded when you need cash to keep our stars . or you simply let him play the market and see what he can get on the open market

we can get a viable replacement for riley if we cant fit him in cap wise

i think in the end we will

How many times have we said thi and tried it only to see it flame out?? Riley is a good player, MIght we get servicable for cheaper?? Sure we might. But we already know he can play in our defense and is good. Hell we have blown more than $10 million on Free agents that really didnt pan out. And really, over five years that is the difference we are talking. We have straight burned more than that on one player in one season. And NOW you want to nickel and dime a guy we actually know can play in our system for a guy who might be able to??

riley has proven to be avg and has never made defensive calls . i dont need to overpay for avg and back load the contract when i need the cap money the most

i can simply get a FA ILB who can do the job at my price

the world wont end if we lose riley

in the end i think he will stay at close to our price

You guys got me hoping he goes some place that will pay him to play and where a fan base will appreciate him. Same for Rak actually.

I would suggest to keep Riley "IF" we are going to draft Skov at #34. Otherwise, let him test FA and bring in a veteran on the cheap, possibly Ryans or his equal and trade down #34 to gain another pick and let Robinson battle for a spot and draft an ILB with the extra pick as well.

Kinda bothers me that we are trying to resign Moss. It would be a silly move and would be going in the wrong direction. I think we should sign McCluster to play slot. He could also handle return duties.

Also, I would like to to draft the best available WR with our 2nd round pick. By doing this, we would have overhauled the WR corps. and RG3 would have all the weapons he needs. In other words, he would have Garcon, McCluster and Matthews, Benjamin or Robinson for WR and Reed at TE. That would give us alot more fire power than we have had. Pass on Moss and use that money more wisely.

Cut Chester, Lichtensteiger, Montgomery, Carriker, and Bowen.
Trade KC for a 2nd and a conditional first if the other team makes the playoffs, conditional 4th if they start him for 8 games or more.

FA:

Resign RAK at 7 mil/season.
Resign Riley at 4 mil/season.
Resign Hall at 2 mil/season.
Resign Merriweather at 1 mil/season.
Sign Hakeem Nicks at 3 mil/season.
Sign Kenny Britt at 1 mil/season.
Sign Dustin Keller at 1 mil/season.
Sign Richie Incognito at 1 mil/season.
Sign Alex Mack at 7 mil/season.
Sign Ziggy Hood at 2 mil/season.
Pat Angerer at 1 mil/season.
Antoine Cason at 1 mil/season.
Aqib Talib at 6 mil/season.
Malcolm Jenkins at 4 mil/season.

2- Antonio Richardson, OT, TEN
2 (CLE)- Kony Ealy, DE, MIZ
3- Cyril Richardson, G, Baylor
4- Christian Jones, ILB, FSU
5- Daquon Jones, NT, PSU
6- Jeremy Gallon, WR, MICH
7- James Franklin, QB, MIZ

The thread says dream. I do think a lot of that is doable.

Nicks at 3 mil is a bit far-fetched but most of the other things are close. I think Nicks will get closer to 8 mil/season.

I don't see Britt, Incongnito, angerer, or cason signing for $1M. Incongnito alone will get $4-6M now that it appears that the Martin accusations are stretched. Rak is going to get a lot more than $7M. I think you might be a bit lite on both Riley and Hall, but not far off. Talib is probably going to get more than that, but his injury will reduce his price.

Actually, Nicks I'm not a huge fan of, so I'm OK with your number there. Just too many injuries. I also wouldn't touch Malcolm Jenkins. I'll stay with Amerson. His upside is higher, I think.

Britt and Incognito have so many issues, 1 million is likely to be all they can get.

Angerer is likely to get about 2.5 million, just like Cason (he was on a 1.5 mil contract) who was the #3 corner in ARI.

I don't know how much RAK will end up getting but we can always play a numbers game with him. Cliff Avril is making 6.5 mil/season.

I expect Hall to get closer to 4 mil but I think Riley will only get around 4. (Rey Mauluga was making 3.5 mil/season and he's better than Riley)
I think the value on corners is going down. Look at last season and what was paid for corners in FA. It was a drastic change from the past. Talib was under 5 mil last season.

Malcolm Jenkins is a FS and has nothing to do with Amerson.

My bad. Thought Jenkins was a corner....wasn't he drafted by the cowboys as a corner a few years ago and didn't pan out there? Maybe I'm thinking Mike Jenkins......
