The Eagles rescinded their contract tender offer to him, which made him eligible to be a free agent. Basically, they let him walk after he was upset that they signed two backs and made him fourth string.

If you listen to some Dallas fans, Jerry's gonna sell the farm for AP. They don't care it will destroy the nearly broken cap we're currently.

Actually the talk I hear--and I live in Dallas--is that Jerry is slowly but surely taking a back seat now to Stephen Jones. And Stephen unfortunately is smarter than Jerry. He is not going to mortgage the future for an aging back when he can sign a rookie to a cheap contract and get good production.

Stephen won a decisive battle with his dad last year when he persuaded him to take Zack Martin over Johnny Manziel. It proved to be a brilliant move, the Cowboys advanced into the playoffs, and Jerry has quietly admitted his kid is better at running the team at this point than he is. So he is going to sit back, drink his tumblers of Johnny Walker, and take credit for the Cowboys being good again, but his input is now less than ever before.
