Teams come and go but the broadcasters span generations. I am old enough to remember my dad listening to Waite Hoyt as far back as the late 40s ... and Waite was still broadcasting into the middle 60s. Marty and Joe touched millions of fans. Eddie Milner did not.
Waite was amazing. A lot of times during crap Reds years, we hoped it would be a rain delay so Waite could tell stories about the old days. They put out a record once with his stories. That would be worth something now, I think.

I agree...Uecker's response to the statue was typical self-deprecating, sarcastic humor:
"I can't think of a better place to put this statue," Uecker said. "This will be great for fans and even better for pigeons. You might even be able to see a little part of the field."
