My first Van Halen experience was sneaking into my aunt's 8 track box where she had Van Halen I and II. Do you remember the boxes they had that would hold 10, 12, 16, .... 8 track tapes? Anyway, I slipped out to my Grandaddy's van that had a player in it and you could turn the ignition switch backwards without the key, and threw it in and rocked the fuck out!! I don't remember the year, but I would guess it was between '79-'81. I found out later that my Aunt would let me borrow any of her music.

And if I went to my parents and dug around, I'd probably find more.

I never owned an 8-track, went from LP straight to cassette tapes. Had to put my own player in the car as most had 8-track players if they had a tape player at all. Most I recorded from album to cassette with the high end system I brought home from Germany.
