Never knew that. But album covers back then were part of the reason for buying the album. Nowadays buying mp3s is like buying 45's, nothing to them. No cover art...

Yeah, even buying CDs is lame compared to buying albums. My friend Scott actually has been buying and framing the album sleeves of some of his favorite albums since they have such great covers...

The moodys always had some pretty sweet covers though.

So did Uriah Heep and Yes.

Good points. I like most of Yes'. Have you ever heard of a band called Nektar? They had some really sweet ones. I think someone posted a song or two of theirs in this thread actually.

Yeah I heard of them, but speaking of good album covers Earth, Wind & Fire had some great covers, too. And don't forget Captain Beyond...Black Sabbath and BOC had some good covers also.

Not sure what my favorite album cover is... Probably A Wizard, A True Star by Todd Rundgren.

Hard to pick one, there were so many. The ones Marshall Tucker used on a few of theirs was good, King Crimson "In the Court of the Crimson King", Led Zeppelin had some nice covers. I remember LZ III original cover had the turning wheel to change the cover. Jethro Tull had the punch outs of the band in the original cover of Benefit. Hendrix's Axis: Bold as Love cover was tripping deluxe. And the fold out cover on Brain Salad Surgery was weird, kind of like the Mad Magazine fold-over back cover.

Quick eidt: How could forget Savoy Brown's first few album covers, those were up their the Moody Blues for sure.
