Halo's have some issues... 6 of their 8 runs they've scored this series have been on HR's... Relying on HR's to get your runs isn't going to cut it... That's how the Mariners played last year and we know how that went...

Love how the team is putting the game in motion.... Executing the small details makes a difference..

3rd series win in a row... Let's take another series at home... Hopefully the team plays w/ a chip on it's shoulder to give the home crowd their money's worth this time around...

i'm fine with miley as an innings eater IF he actually eats innings

besides felix, we haven't had a starter who could go 190+ innings in a very long time, and miley's stats were okay for being a workhorse in the boston litterbox of a ballpark

he went 7.1 today, and needs to do that quite a bit for the rest of the year and stop giving up homers so much...and dipoto would have to be right about smith's injury status and elias's inability to remain effective with the curve as an out pitch for me to ever think it was a decent trade

The main reason (among others) I didn't like the trade was because we got Miley and I really don't think he is much good. He does have some positives though, typically isn't going to walk an absurd amount of batters and has historically pitched around 190-200 innings for the season. Negatives are he is most likely giving up at least 4 runs and often more, he is going to surrender a healthy amount of homers and base hits. Safeco could and probably will help him out. In my opinion out of all the pitchers in the rotation Miley gives the Mariners the lowest chance to win.

Personally I think the trade was a huge overpay, there is quality potential with Elias and Smith and team control at a lower price tag, which has a lot of value for a team that is constantly bitching about the budget. This is one of those trades that we may win by default because Smith and Elias never become productive players again.

All that said, if we win the world series then I love the trade.

Well I guess the good news is we're .500 again...

Seattle back to the usual bottom 5 hitting but top 10 pitching. I swear this team is so up and down. I thought our hitting would be the highlight of the season.

Still, long ways to go. Not even close to 1/4 of the season in yet. Would have to imagine Cano/Seagers hitting picks up.

I think I'm more bullish on Miley then most. I mean I understand he is a 3-4 starter but if he can do what he's done the last 3 years I'm ok with it. He was shit in the Cleveland start but he had like .480 BABIP against before today which will even out. His FIP was actually lower then Felixs before today too. I think over time he will be similar to a Happ or Vargas. The cost is probably what angers most, I didn't love giving up Smith either. We will see how it plays out over time.

See to me saying a pitcher is an innings eater is like saying a hitter makes good contact. To me those terms means pitcher = 4.5+ era and hitter = .250- b., but makes their respective starts and goes their respective expected time frames.

I prefer having a pitcher known as a 'good pitcher' and a hitter known as a 'good hitter' When you have to micro-define it, you are really digging deep to quantify a player. Just me, I get it.

With one exception, he is your #5 SP or #9 hitter...
