That's a possibility too. Right now there's just too much uncertainty I suppose.

But I feel like unless Spezza is moved then he's next in line. He's really grown as a player and person in recent years and I can't imagine there would be somebody better then him. Alfie was even talking about how much Spezza has grown and how much of a leader he is becoming in a recent news article.

This is the type of deal that is going to get the other teams in that West race scrambling to make a move. I am really shocked Ottawa got so little in return for arguably their best player this season, but good on Nashville for fleecing Murray (which isn't exactly too hard to do)

Are you kidding? I don't know exactly what could be expected given his contract. That's $4.2M in cap space. I'd take that alone. Fisher is one of my all-time favourite players, but the guy has 24 points in 55 games this year. Guys that have more points include Dave Bolland, Tyler Kennedy, Mike Santorelli and Bryan Bickell. I love Fisher's overall game and his grit but I'll take a 1st rounder, a 2nd or 3rd rounder next year and cap relief for that.

To me this is a good deal for the rebuilding Sens. They now have 2 first rounders and about $19M in cap space heading into this summer.

No, Murray didn't get fleeced here at all. Fisher is having a pretty shitty year and he's making big bucks. The fact that they'll get a 1st round pick and another pick without taking dollars back is actually pretty sweet.

Murray was painted into a corner. Everyone with more than three functioning brain cells knew Fisher wasn't staying and everyone with more than four knew he was going to Nashville. I think Murray got taken a bit, maybe could have gotten a warm body to go with the lotto scratch off. Low return for the quality of player. Ok return for the situation.

Part of me wants to believe that he just wanted to do right by Mike and give him what he wanted. And what does Murray care about next year? He'll be somewhere else.

Great deal for both teams. Ottawa gets the rebuild underway with some good cap space and a first round pick, Nashville gets a player that looks like he was born to play on the Preds. Fisher embodies everything that Nashville has ever stood for. He's not the biggest, he's not the fastest, he's not the most dangerous offensively but he's got decent skills and he works his ass off every shift. The Predophiles just got a little more dangerous. After watching them play recently they could be a dark horse out of the West, especially if Detroit or Vancouver gets knocked out early.

And here I thought you were going to say he's a drunk who smells like sewage and has an unnatural connection to his dog.

I don't think Murray would have traded Fish unless it was to Nashville. I'm happy that the organization treated a guy who has been in Ottawa awhile with so much respect. The return probably could have been better but it wasn't horrible either and Murray did the right thing by trading him somewhere he would be comfortable.

Murray is in a pretty tough spot though. The owner is in his ear telling him to dump salary and build for the future. The thing is that he can't really do it unless he trades somebody with some decent value (Fisher) rather then someone who is fairly expensive but has little to no value (Kovalev).

Well to be fair, I was referring to the team... not the tobacco juice swilling, family reunion orgy having, toothless wonders that inhabit the town...

I think the Senators are the winners in this one. Solid pickup for the Preds no doubt, but freeing cap space, and getting a first and potential 2nd rounder for an over thirty guy thats more of a grinder than anything else, I'll give this one to the Sens.

“In their Fisher trade release, Senators failed to mention if the Preds don’t win a playoff round, there is NO additional draft pick to Ott.”

So which is the Primary pick, and which is the "additional" one?
