Well you can't be more wrong and generalizing. There are just as many Gronk championships as Lynch ones. It's all about who else you take. I'm not gonna get into a debate about a top tier RB1 vs any position.

We are not going to agree and that's fine. All I know is a dozen RDs our going to put up more points then the best TE. Same goes for WR. You want to go TE because you think it's money in the bank, fine by me. Just showed you that going back two years, that's actually not the case and your going to be in the hole from the get go picking a TE over a RB or WR that others are picking.

And yes 138 points is consistent enough for a TE....especially when the rest are sub 100!

Gronk has 54 TD in 65 games. Pretty consistent to me.

Give me the minus whatever for picking a second tier TE. Teams will more then make it up when you pick your RB vs the majority of RBs picked in the first.

You're not seeing it clearly. You're right we won't agree and that's fine. If you want to take the 8th "best" RB in round one, go ahead. I'll take Gronk and an RB close to that 8th, while you wonder if you should sraft Greg Olsen in the 5th or Ladarius Green late. Maybe you hit. Maybe I hit. Maybe we both miss. But my middle tier RB is going to be better than your middle tier TE.

Just saying that there is no wrong way to start your draft if you fill in the rest correctly.

Well I agree that there are lots of ways to win. Close enough. :suds:

I think I know what TKO means, Harold. Since everyone has to start a TE, if your TE is 50 FF points better than everyone else's, that's just as good as having a RB1 50 FF points better than everyone else's.

Graham was kind of an underwhelming use of a first or second-round pick last year - but McCoy, AP, Gio, Martin and Ball were all much worse.

---

To apply Joe's thesis to last year, here are the guys taken in the first two rounds in 2014, and where they ended up relative to the average of the top 12 at their position (average of top 5 for QB/TE).

RB
1. McCoy -53
2. Charles -14
3. AP -203
5. Forte +20
7. Lacy +5
10. Lynch +50
15. Ball -188
16. Murray +71
19. Gio -81
20. Foster +12
22. Martin -153

WR
6. Megatron -48
8. DT +26
13. Dez +24
14. AJ Green -65
17. Julio -14
18. Marshall -84
21. Jordy +24
23. Jeffery -30
24. Antonio +54

TE
12. Graham -7

QB
4. Peyton -21
9. Rodgers +12
11. Brees -50
  • 5 out of 11 RBs were hits, 1 was okay (Charles), 2 were disappointments, and 3 were outright busts.
  • 4 out of 9 WRs were hits, 2 were okay, and 3 were disappointments. No total busts.
  • The lone TE was okay.
  • 1 of 3 QBs was a hit, 1 okay, 1 disappointing.
So the distribution by position seems to be pretty even - except that all the completely wasted picks were RBs.

for the most part that's a savvy waiver wire operator more so than a savvy drafter
Sadly that's true... and why FF can turn into a grind sometimes.
