The SEC and Texas A&M have been having WEEKLY conversations about making the jump for months.

Jed is correct here... they have been speaking ever since we announced we were heading to the Big Ten and I should note, that the SEC wants aTm more so than any other big 12 team. (1st on their list).

Mizzer, ND, Maryland, and VT
but we'll never get VT

I do not look for the Big Ten to expand any further unless forced too in the next 2 to 3 years. If they are forced to expand due to super conference developments... then I suspect the teams to be on their radar to be...

Rutgers, Missouri, ND then 1 other...

TV Markets of NY is the reason for Rutgers..

ND would be a reach at this point because they have had conversations with them multiple times and been snubbed... (Pride issue comes into play for the Big Ten Commish at some point).

Who in the hell would want Texas, seriously..............they are best off just going and doing their best impression of Notre Dame at this point. They have too much drama surrounding them.

Any talk about potential teams to add can not have anything but "TV imprint" and "football" implications. None of these moves for big boy BCS conferences have anything to with anything other than those 2 things. I know some of you basketball fans won't like that fact but you just have to face reality. Basketball does not matter in general but especially in these moves. Tv imprints and football is where the money is.

The B1G is just as crazy about it's Basketball programs, if they were to invite Mizzou I could see them extending a hand to KU if other schools turn them down first, I don't think they would be the first choice although. Things could get pretty stupid if the SEC moves on aTm and OU

No one is more crazy about their basketball than the Big East. And any of those "basketball" schools in the Big East would do cartwheels to the Big 10 if offered because it is about football and money. Basketball may "matter" in certain conferences but it doesn't matter in these decisions.

I agree it will be more about football, however KU's BB program probably makes more revenue than quite a few football programs

CT is correct. KU Basketball does make more than some football programs. They come in just ahead of Pitt Football at just over 5 million profit. Still not enough to drive an invite to B1G though. Nebraska football was over 32 million I believe (profit figures not revenue).

Yeah their revenue is bigger than SOME football programs but having 47 football BCS teams out of the just over 60 BCS schools is not intising enough for a BCS conference to take that into enough consideration.

Personally I hope it happens. Things if they were going to fall apart I wish it would have started with them leaving and taking Tex and Baylor with them. If they do go I think others have been secretly looking for the best deal for themselves since we left anyway and now are in a better situation than last year.

That is funny isn't it Popeye. I wonder if the state politicians will talk about not allowing things to happen or to keep all things Texas together so that they have their rivalries intact.

Yeah KU BB brings in a lot. Imagine if they had kept improving in FB that would have been a very tough 1-2 punch for schools to compete with, at least money wise.
