The Schroeder era? :pound: If you blinked you probably missed it. His greatest contribution to the Redskins came a few years later when the Raiders were dumb enough to trade Lachey for him.

Well, he hold the franchise record for passing yards until Kirk broke that last year. The problem with Schroeder was that he was haunted by the failure of his baseball career.

Interesting note: Schroeder played against Elway while both were in high school. Schroeder went to Pacific Palisades (and was classmates with Forest Whitaker) and Elway to Granada Hills.

Not like he was terrible. He made two Pro-Bowls, nearly had 10,000 rushing yards, could pass block really well, and ran 4.26 40. Not too shabby.

Yep - I am with you on this one. Perhaps Portis didn't lead the Redskins to the SB & the related trade for him was not a good one (Gibbs the pseudo GM - not so great). However - I enjoyed the fact that he left everything on the field & was a good interview. His tributes to Sean Taylor were also very moving.

One season hardly makes an era. Schroeder didn't come within shouting distance of 4000 yds for the remainder of his career (including his time w/ the Raiders). Even in that one good year he had as many TDs as INTs (22). Like I said his biggest contribution was fetching Lachey in that trade. I pray that Cousins doesn't follow his lead.

BTW - Schroeder's biggest problem was that he sucked.

the worst moment was losing to dallas on thanksgiving day to clint longley

No doubt, he had alot of us fooled.

Portis was good. The numbers don't lie. Gibbs just tried to turn him into a power back and Portis beefed up and lost his speed trying to comply. Don't let Portis running upstairs to daddy all the time and his lack of wanting to practice diminish what he did on the field. Great in pass pro, got to the playoffs twice with him and the help of a very good defense.

Best - Riggins Run
Best in person - Gary Clark vs Vikings
I screamed my bloody head off. Hoarse for a week!

Worst - swinging gate play. TWICE IN A ROW. AFTER the Giants called a timeout.

That was a low, low point.

You had to be there (and I was) but the 1972 NFC Championship game was like no other. The stands literally bounced up and down so hard that you felt as if the entire stadium would collapse. That bomb from Billy Kilmer to Charley Taylor over Charlie Waters really got those stands rocking so much that to this day I believe the prevailing attitude was....fu*k death, we're kicking the cowboys asses today!

Sadly after finally reaching Nirvana..........

We all wept as the ultra conservative George Allen, didn't replace the clearly struggling Kilmer with Sonny Jurgensen in a 14-7 loss to Miami in the SB.

So many awesome memories. Can't choose just 1 but I'll add one I didn't see as big Daryl Grant catching the tipped pass in the NFC championship game against (team that shall not be named) and rumbling in for the dagger TD!

Not to mention Green caught Dorsett too. Fastest man to ever play in the NFL.

Jason Campbell's entire career

I could not stand him I thought Mcnabb was a huge improvement that's how bad I felt Campbell was

Brunnel was pretty awful at end of his career too

Yeah those of my generation understand Riggo's run was the greatest play in Redskins history, for me a close second was the Darryl Grant INT the game before to put them in the SB. Sean Taylor wasn't an on the field bad moment but it led to one. For me there were 2: Coach Gibbs calling the 2nd timeout to lose the Sean Taylor Game and of course Clint Longley's TD bomb to spoil Thanksgiving.

My gosh they're so many fun memories. I think my best moment has to be one that I remember as if it happened yesterday.

Let's set the stage:

Mid November 1990 Veterans stadium Philadelphia. Buddy Ryan defeats Joe Gibbs 28 - 14 in what would be known as the body bag game. Nine Redskins leave game with injuries including our starting QB and backup. Brian Mitchell finishes the game at QB. The result of this game in the weeks ahead would give Phil the 4th seed and Redskins the 5th pivoting them to play a wildcard playoff game back in Philadelphia. The Redskins won that game 20 - 6 sending the hapless Buddy Ryan home with his 3rd straight playoff loss.

The priceless moment for me came when after the game Joe Gibbs didn't go shake Ryans hand but instead gave him a little wave of his hand in a "see ya" kind of moment. The Skins loss the next round to the 49'ers but Gibbs credited Ryan and that body bag game in propelling them in the following year to one of Gibbs greatest years as coach and ending it with his 3rd Lombardi trophy.

I've never seen any of the good skins teams so probably either rg3s first game or the rg3 td run. Really thought we had something and would be set at qb. I was wrong.

Worst was probably him tearing his acl. That was one of my worst sports memories ever if not the worst.
