Jerry Rice - Prime example of how hard work, determination, and having an unmatched grasp of the game can boast you into greatness

Randy Moss - Prime example of I'm better than any coverage you're sending, but I'm also my worst enemy.

Moss did two things very well. He ran fast and he jumped high. He never had the full route tree as an option. I don't know why anyone would think that now he can become an effective route runner with the shorter routes, and teams will not respect the deep speed like they did 5 years ago, and the vertical jump is not what it was.

We will not sign Moss, I really doubt he would even come here.Moss is going to want to go to a team that is a super bowl contender AND has a legitimate respected QB. Moss is notorious for quitting on plays and not giving 100%.

That's why I think he needs to go somewhere like the patriots where they have veterans that he can look up to and who can keep in him check as well as a respected coach.

I think a lot of people would argue that the 9ers are a Super Bowl contender.

There are several reasons why the 49ers should not sign Randy Moss. I'm going to simply assume that Randy Moss still has game for a moment. Let's say, for argument's sake, Randy Moss is capable of a 60+ catch season with over 1000 yards and, like 9 touchdowns. Basically TO circa 2010. Maybe he's capable of even more. I'm still not on board with him. The problems are many though with Randy.

1. he won't put up those numbers here. We've seen it too many times to know that the last break out campaign of a wide receiver's career just will not occur in San Francisco. Think Isaac Bruce, Curtis Conway, Johnnie Morton, Darrell Jackson and any of the other washed up has-beens that have put on a 49er uniform because they were the only ones left willing to gift them a starting job.We aren't the Patriots. Those guys don't succeed here. Oh, I forgot Braylon Edwards.

2. The 49ers are built for the long haul, not one year wonders. The 49ers don't need Randy Moss for one or two seasons. They need a solid 5 year minimum man to challenge Michael Crabtree for the starting job.

3. Moss doesn't fit the offense. Randy Moss running a slant over the middle?

4. The 49ers have spectacular chemistry. Moss would cut into that. Think of Vernon Davis. Can you imagine Vernon saying anything bad about Alex Smith? I can think of Crabtree doing so, but even his comments are pretty tame.

Randy Moss - WR - Titans

One NFL team executive tells CBSSports.com that free agent Randy Moss is "utterly obliterating his chances of returning" to the league with his stream-of-consciousness video-chat rants on the internet this week.
The same executive insists his team had once considered adding Moss, but has now ruled it out after seeing the videos. NFL teams want to be assured that Moss has found "stability" in his life, explains the exec, and the videos aren't helping. In addition to announcing his comeback, Moss has used the platform to touch on a wide range of topics, including mocking critics, picking his nose, and discussing his bathroom habits.

Randy Moss - WR - Titans

The Baltimore Sun's Mike Preston believes free agent Randy Moss "could be a nice fit in Baltimore for a year, maybe two."
The Ravens meet Moss' criteria of a contender with a capable quarterback. The respected leadership of Ray Lewis and Ed Reed could conceivably keep his ego in check and his commitment on track. Of course, Moss only fits the Ravens' needs if he can still separate downfield with elite vertical skills.

No he's not. He had 3 teams get rid of him two years ago, and 32 teams turn him down last season.

I am not saying we should go get him but come on...Imac.. we were not good at WR on this team...what will you say if NE get's him back?

"Operation Garcon" all the way.

I'll say he is no longer a good WR. He was available this year, NE had a need at WR and they didn't reach out to him.

I know the 49ers are a super bowl contender but if you keep reading I say "AND a legitimate respected QB". Which in my opinion and I am sure in Randy Moss's head we do not have at the moment.

So you think people will now play press coverage against Moss? I hope you're right will only work to Moss' advantage.

Just because I can dig up old arguments, weren't you very adamant about Vick not being able to play the QB position when he made his return? :usa2:

Who else thinks Moss' "personal issue" he was "resolving" last season was an HGH cycle to get back in the game?
