Al Jefferson must be chuckling at the drama surrounding Dwight. McHale is going to be disillusioned with that jerk by the All-Star break (which Dwight probably won't be a part of).

He will be the #1 vote getter in the league.
He now owns every vote coming in from China.

Howard will be in the playoffs challenging for a ring.

Jefferson will be go to option on a team looking for lottery pick.

Howard has more upswing unless you're talking free throws.

These stats don't indicate how much better defensively Howard is.

Rule is correct, if you take into 50% of the time when they must defend, Jefferson is not compelling. He is, by all accounts, Pete Maravich in a large body

Look at that FG pct!

Jefferson could show Dwightmare a thing or two. How to shoot a jumpshot and free throws. And he does play D, just not as dominant as Dwight in the past.

What I would say is that for the money, Al is a good value, especially if you have a good big man defender to compliment him. All is generally a good clubhouse guy too.

Apparently Dwight's defense is worth 7 million a year.

Admittedly, Jefferson is not a great defender.

But is the difference worth 7 millon extra dollars and the headaches of Dwight??

If you factor in the salary cost, you could make a strong argument for Jefferson.

For $7m give my Al, but for no other reason than health, maybe a little of the ESPN bull shit distractions too.

I really think Dwight will turn the side show around now that he has a spot on a good team with ownership that has shown it will make moves to both win and please dwight.

So I am flip flopping, give me Dwight and that D!!! efense. Just realized what I wrote hahaha

Al would be a really good choice too with his $7m less a year.

Why are people so delusional? AL is not a difference maker. Dwight was a TOP 5 player until last year.

It was not who was the better player.

It was who was the better value.

A) Get Al Jefferson and still have 7 million left over to sign another good player.
or
B) Get the 2013 version of Dwight for 20 million.

There is a strong argument that choice A is the better move.

* And frankly its debatable whether Howard will ever again be a top 5 guy. He seems physically damaged from the 2011 injury far more than anyone could have predicted. His Win Share numbers are almost 50% of his 2010 and 2011 levels.

The big thing here is how much his PER dropped last year. The truth is that his PER will likely never get back to where it was but it has a decent chance to be better than what it is. Its easier to build around Howard because he does the things a Center should do.

But lol at this conversation even existing. Dude really needs to work on his Free Throws. ANYONE can make FTs. Its emblematic of his NBA career that he won't put in the effort to do something so simple that they are supposed to be 'free'

Horn said it best. As a GM, under the new CBA, what is the better direction. I would take Al and pay $7M more to the #4 position.

Theres a reason Big Al is paid less money. He is not as good nor is he a game changer on the defensive end as Howard is. I like Big Al but he is not a franchise center. Howard is and thats why he commands more money.

This isn't even close...Dwight is by far the better value.

All this comparison does is selectively choose a couple of stats that make Jefferson look better and conveniently leave out all the other important numbers like...

FG % - Dwight .578 % - Jeffferson .494 %
Reb - Dwight 12.4 - Jefferson 9.2
Blk - Dwight 2.4 - Jefferson 1.1

Lol and these are all numbers from Dwight in an injury riddled year. Most years he averages 20-22 ppg 14 reb and wins defensive player of the year

Jefferson is pretty solid offensively but Dwight is dominant on both ends of the court

In the new CBA structure salary management is huge . Teams just won't be able to pull off what Riley did. Also note Dwight's liability in close games in the last few minutes.
