NU's DB's got away with some questionable shit today.

Northwestern's first drive of the 4th quarter. 11 plays, 52 yards. 30 rushing yards including the last 6 plays being runs to punch it in the endzone. We got out physicalled for most of the game. Especially when we were on offense.

Stats can be misleading. Especially when one team gets the ball on the positive side of the field as much as NW had.

Northwestern had a couple of good drives. I'll give them that. We ran at will most of the game and their corners couldn't hang with the size of our receivers. Northwestern was only in the game because of our turnovers.
I know you are trying to be funny. Recruiting is what it will take for us to take the next step. I challenge you to compare the participants of the Championship Games of the past 10 years with their rivals ranking and I challenge you to object to the relationship between recruiting success and success on the field.

Our DBs were also very physical, which was the reason NW was 16/37 passing.

yeah, db's played great.......other than dropped picks.......2 of them on Northwesterns final drive that would of ended the game.....

They played great in pass coverage!

So did the Northwestern DB's. I believe the refs called the game evenly although there should have been more PI calls on both sides.

A couple of times.....but it was clear the refs were letting the DB's play more aggressive so I'm glad they took advantage of being allowed to play more physical downfield.....

Jed and RA, I respect both of your opinions........mainly because you're both older than I am and have been watching this game longer than I have.

I simply disagree with you guys on this one though. I was very excited about the way the Defense came out today with a different attitude. I finally saw guys up front tackling guys BACKWARD instead of forward. Something changed Defensively, and I hope it carries over to next week. We had a little swagger on Defense today.....it got overshadowed by the ineptness of the Special Teams play and Offensive Line play at times, however.

I do agree with you that the Offensive Line was out-physicaled at different times, and I commented on that throughout the game in the game thread.

I can explain it quite simply

"It was North Fucking Western."

I remember NU's front 4 getting blown off the LOS a few timmes. A couple times for first downs, another for a TD.

NW is not a good team, and neither is Nebraska. Nothing changed today.

Also the DBs were right there with their guys almost every single play as well.

I still can't believe we won that game today......Just wow after all the mistakes we made.....I think Taylor played great down the stretch under pressure and was a good learning experience for him.....

Who is trying to be funny? Recruiting is the shit and obviously all that matters!!!!! A VERY wise man has said on this board before that recruiting is the life blood of the football program. The guy that said that is a genius!!!!! If you don't recruit the best players then it is impossible to win!!!!!
