Joe Kelly is a RP.....at best.

Buchholz may be done because he's no longer throwing 95.

He's like 90 now.

I'm serious.

Caught me by surprise. He hasn't looked the same for a while now (since last year's ASB), and it felt like some sort of arm/shoulder injury would have explained that.

On the bright side, the Sox can work with a 4-man rotation for the next two weeks.

I'd like to see the Sox take a flier on Chacin. It wouldn't take much to get him from the Angels.

I think they suck it up and eat Upton's contact to get Ty Ross out of SD...that could be interesting. The problem is there arne't a lot of teams out of it, and the ones that are don't have pitchers that the Sox need.

Ross also probably won't be back until after the ASB.

Yeah, I'm not loving the options they have right now to even trade for.

Plus Johnson is having mental issues so he's not even tradeable.

Owens also has 42:30 K:BB in 44.1 AAA innings. And his velocity's dipped. He's still young, but it's pretty worrisome.

I saw a thing on Quick Pitch this morning that said that 24 years ago today, the Yankees drafted Derek Jeter. I just looked up that draft.

Jeter was taken 6th overall, behind noted greats Phil Nevin, Paul Shuey, BJ Wallace, Jeffery Hammonds and Chad Mottola. Those five combined for two All-Star Game appearances. Woops.

What was really interesting to me is that Quick Pitch said when he was drafted, it was in chalk on a chalk board. The teams would actually walk up to a chalk board and write the player's name who they wanted to draft. Insane.

Five of the top 25 players in WAR are on the Red Sox (Bogaerts, Ortiz, Betts, Pedroia, Bradley Jr.). Shaw's also 35th. Of course, the Cubs have three in the top 10 (Fowler, Zobrist, Bryant).

Cubs also have four of the top 25 starting pitchers (Arrieta, Lester, Hendricks, Lackey). Hammel's 34th. Cubs rotation gets very overlooked. Hendricks and Hammel are damn good 4/5 starters.
