It will be the first time a team intentionally used a pitcher to hit instead of a DH since the Chicago White Sox allowed Ken Brett to do it in 1976. The Rays were forced to bat pitcher Andy Sonnanstine in 2009 because of a lineup card mix-up.

Then again, considering Bumgarner's career slash line of .182/.226/.305/.530, it's also pretty fucking stupid and I imagine somewhat insulting to the Giants' bench players and A's pitchers.

I like Bumgarner, but I hope the A's fit him with a Platinum Sombrero tonight, he leaves a half dozen men on base and the Giants lose by a run.
