Love pick #88, assuming he's still there.

I am good with all that, but I was happy with Iloka's play this year, so I don't think safety is as critical as it once was, and I think the emphasis has now switched to CB with the age of our CB's and the injuries they sustained.

However, if you are going best available, then I am good with that mock. I think the QB job is probably Dalton's still, but I would definitely not mind some young blood brought in who can make most all the throws to push Dalton to be the best version of himself on a more regular basis.

QBs in this league need to get tougher mentally. how can you be mentally tough when a 250lb line backer wants to rip your head off and your just fine with that, but if a popular backup QB is signed to your team all the sudden that messes with your head. It's bullshit.

I think it creates a different kind of pressure, and it also can lead to issues with other players. If you have a decent backup and the starter isn't getting it done, you might start having a divide between those who want to stick with A and those who want to switch to B.

You know the old saying, when you have 2 QB's you have none.

They also say when your QB is Andy Dalton you might as well not have one.

I think if Andy starts to struggle this season, the locker might turn on him anyway. Only so much faith you can continue to have in the guy when he consistently makes plays that lose ballgames.

Unfortunately the problem only really exists in the postseason. His starting stats in regular season, overall, wins/losses home and away splits, overall numbers compared to all-time greats at this point in their careers, ect...they are right on par, until you get to the postseason, and he has about the worst postseason stats of any QB I have ever seen. We will see what Hue can get out of him this year I suppose.

I would still like a young hungry QB backing him up that wants a chance to start, kinda like Brady was to Bledsoe, or Young was to Montana, or Farve was to Majkowski. Granted, it would be nice to have a young guy behind DFalton that eventually becomes a HOF'er for us, but we will never have a chance for that if we keep messing with everyones garbage for our backup QB. Draft another young talented QB who has a hunger to become a starter and can mamke all the throws. If anything, hopefully it pushes Dalton to remove the stick from his ass and become the best he can be, if Dalton continues to fail, we actually have an option in place versus scrambling to find a replacement and now we have to now draft a rookie and groom all over again once it is too late, or we are left signing an over the hill QB to be our backup, or a never has been or never will be.

Put some insurance in place for Gods sake incase of a rainy day! Starting to look fucking cloudy too, so better to grab that umbrella now before the flood gates open up from the heavens.

QBs get paid a premium in this league, even if they aren't really that good. people still talk like Mark Sanchez is worth something, Mike Vick will go somewhere and start this year, even though its a pretty bad idea. someone will pay Dalton more than we will, and at that point, you want someone there to take his place.

Not true..... Just because a good defense and some inept teams make up for his mistakes it doesn't mean he didn't make them. Look at last season -- After the final game Shannon Sharpe kept saying that Dalton had to pick up his play or he would kill his team. This was after he threw 4 picks and lived to tell about it against a very mediocre Ravens team. That same Ravens team beat him early in the year because he made critical mistakes. The Miami game was a nightmare mostly because of Dalton.

Sure, he can generate stats and win games.... Most guys could with our roster. But he makes too many bone-headed plays. I'm hoping Hue can correct some of the easier errors but I'm not holding my breath.

There are games where he tanks, yes, but if you look at overall season stats, he is on par, and that is what I was speaking to. People usually only talk about season stats when you are looking at a career, not individual games until you get to the postseason. Overall numbers during the season suggest, he is a quality starter with tons of upside. We know the truth, that because of Dalton, there are many games we leave on the table. But then again, there are several games that Dalton carries us too when he gets hot as hell.

All I am saying is...most people in this league will call Dalton a quality starter, but the fact remains, we need some young talent sitting behind him pushing him to the next level of his game, or we need to replace him. If we are not replacing him right away, then we start grooming right now, and best case scenerio, Dalton becomes a stud we can count on, and we get a damn good player sitting behind him, who we can trade off for a decent pick later on, if necessary.

Plus, trust me, our roster still has several holes on it, and Dalton helps offset those holes at times also, when he is playing well. When he is not playing well, those holes are even more evident.

Example: Center (Cook), Left Guard (Boling), starting RB (Ellis), FB, a starting TE (Gresham) who doesn't drop so many passes, a sure #2 because Green disappears at times better than Houdini.

I highly doubt most would call him a 'quality' starter.

And I don't think season stats tell the story at all. His inconsistency is a glaring flaw and it's one that costs football games. And Dalton has NEVER carried this team. The games that he put up huge numbers were games we would have won with an average performance from our QB.

I am not denying Dalton completely sucks at times, and costs us games. I don't think you give Dalton nearly enough credit when he is on fire. Dalton can flat out sling the rock at times, and he is very accurate. Then there is other times he looks like me out there throwing a football. You do not give him nearly enough credit for things when they are going very well.

He had big statistical games in wins against Buffalo, Detroit, New York and Minnesota. Our defense outscored New York so his performance really didn't matter there. Josh Johnson would have won against Minny. And his stats against Buffalo were inflated by the inability of Buffalo to defend a screen pass. I'd hardly say that he ever carried us.

Dalton is highly valued in the NFL

Eli Manning is valued even higher and he had a miserable year.

even mediocre QBs get high praise at times, Joe Flacco was considered elite last year. Tony Romo is considered elite by some.

That is pretty easy to say since Josh Johnson didn't play against Minnesota, a team who beat the Eagles the week before.

These are still professional football teams and any given sunday a team or player can come out on fire and take over a game. Once in a while, Dalton is in that category. Most of the time he is not. Our team is good overall, but I think you give the rest of the team too much credit and Dalton not enough when things are going well. Just saying. If you disagree, so be it, we will agree to disagree, because I will not continue to debate the same thing over and over until that horse is just a bloody puddle on the ground.
