I’m sure something like this has been done before, but a few guys that come to mind…

Corey Koskie - Concussions derailed his career by his early 30’s, but a steady major league player both with the bat and in the field. Built the foundation for a solid 2000’s decade for the Twins even during a period in the late 90’s when they were bad.

Brian Giles - San Diego obviously had a much more famous right fielder in their existence (R.I.P.), but Giles led the Padres to just their 4th postseason appearance in 2005 by leading the NL in walks in addition to a .300 average and 38 doubles.

Carlos Lee - Yes, the White Sox won the year after they traded him and his lone postseason appearance was with them in 2000, but Lee was a solid run producer at five stops. Hit 358 career homers and stole 125 career bases.

The A's had a lot of very good players in their early 70's run. (In addition to Hall of Famers Hunter and Jackson and Fingers). Gene Tenace was a very good hitter, Bert Campaneris had a real solid career, Joe Rudi had a good run. I guess that's why the were so good.

I would say Joe Torre, but I really believe he was good enough to be a Hall of Famer as a player. I guess it doesn't matter now that he got in as a manager anyway.

Frank Tanana. Flame throwing power lefty who had gone over 250 innings three times by the time he was 22. Three time Top Ten CYA by the time he was 23. Then got hurt and recreated himself as a junk tossing lefty with an eephus pitch. Who almost won 250 games.

Eddie Cicotte. Not sure if Eddie being banned for the Black Sox scandal did in his chances for the HOF. But it definitely turned him into a forgettable great.

Yeah Giles was an OPS machine. .400 lifetime OBP, .900 OPS. He played in some pitchers ballparks too.

Dave Parker. As a Phillies fan, that's one dude you did not want to see at the plate in a big situation. He won an MVP and made it to a bunch of All Star games.
