You are 40 now

I'm in mourning today. This last week I started realizing that until now I could always remember the kids I went to elementary school with and everything about them including where they lived in town. Now I am starting to forget most names and can barely remember anything else about them like the way they looked.

I don't like being 40 at all.

And, it is all downhill from there.

Signed,

Older than dirt.

P.S: Instead of remembering your old school chums, you will likely be stuck trying to remember the name of the body part that is currently ailing you.

Or, is that just me?

MLB Preview - Tampa Bay Rays at Detroit Tigers - Jun 06, 2013 - CBSSports.com

A big reason for Max Scherzer's stellar start is the support he's received from his teammates - especially at home.
The right-hander tries again to become the first Detroit pitcher in six years to start 8-0 on Thursday when the struggling Tigers face the Tampa Bay Rays.
Scherzer (7-0, 3.42 ERA) appeared set to become the first Tiger since Jeremy Bonderman in 2007 to do so Friday at Baltimore when he allowed three runs, three hits, struck out 10 and left with a 5-3 lead after eight innings. However, closer Jose Valverde gave up four runs, including a walk-off three-run homer with two outs, for a 7-5 loss.
"It's always frustrating," said Scherzer, who retired the last 16 batters he faced. "At the end of the day, I always think we have one of the better teams around, so hopefully this doesn't happen too often."
The Tigers have supplied Scherzer with 8.02 runs per game this season, and 8.69 while he's gone 5-0 in six home starts despite posting a 5.17 ERA.
The Tigers (31-26), however, have totaled seven runs while Scherzer has gone 1-2 with a 3.04 ERA in four starts against Tampa Bay.
A day after losing 10-1 in the series opener, the Rays (32-26) scored all their runs in the ninth inning of Wednesday's 3-0 victory. Matt Joyce hit a tiebreaking sacrifice fly and Evan Longoria had two hits with an RBI as Tampa Bay won for the eighth time in 10 games.
The Rays have won four times in their last 17 games against the Tigers, losing seven of nine at Comerica Park.
Central-leading Detroit has dropped six of eight.
Longoria is 5 for 13 (.385) with four RBIs in his last three games. One of his two hits in eight at-bats against Scherzer was a home run.
Scheduled Rays starter Roberto Hernandez (3-5, 4.87) looks to build on his best outing of 2013 after allowing a run and three hits in a season-high 8 2-3 innings of a 3-1 win at Miami last Wednesday.
The right-hander gave up 10 runs and 14 hits over six innings in going 0-1 in his previous two outings.
"He got better as the game was in progress," manager Joe Maddon told the Rays' official website. "He's got good stuff, he knows how to pitch. A really nice breaking ball. A nice feel for what he's doing out there. He's going to be very good."
Hernandez is 8-5 with a 3.97 ERA in 17 starts against the Tigers, going 1-2 with an 8.10 ERA when he last faced them with Cleveland in 2011.
Detroit star Miguel Cabrera is batting .333 (12 for 36) with three home runs and two doubles against Hernandez. He went 0 for 2 with two intentional walks Wednesday, and leads the majors with a .366 average.
Teammate Prince Fielder is batting .333 during a 10-game hitting streak but struck out both times following those walks to Cabrera in the sixth and eighth innings.
"There's probably times you're going to roll the dice and let the pitcher pitch to Cabrera," Maddon said. "Everything depends on the pitcher. It's not a generic moment."

Just getting tuned in! I've been up for 31 hrs so I'm not sure how long I'll last but here we go...

Ugh. Forgot how much I dislike Torii Hunter. No man should have a name that ends with two I's.

No score at the end of three.

Always love seeing Longoria strike out! :yahoo:

Scherzer solid thru five. Haven't listened to Ray's announcers before but they're downright decent.

They changed it. This morning it was the Padres/Rockies.

I am good any. I will be watching the Mets (if the weather holds out) too because it is Harvey Day.

MLB Preview - Atlanta Braves at Los Angeles Dodgers - Jun 07, 2013 - CBSSports.com

The Los Angeles Dodgers are still in last place in the NL West, but there's a buzz at Chavez Ravine that hasn't been felt or heard all season.

Yasiel Puig is the reason.

The outfielder continues his remarkable first week in the major leagues Friday night with fellow rookie sensation Hyun-Jin Ryu expected to get the ball against the NL East-leading Atlanta Braves.

Expected to challenge for their first division title since 2009, the Dodgers (26-33) underperformed through the first two months of the season. Los Angeles, though, is getting on a roll, winning three of four since Puig was called up from Double-A Chattanooga on Monday.

The 22-year-old Cuban defector has so far been as good as advertised. His strong throw from the right field warning track completed a game-ending double play in a 2-1 victory over San Diego on Monday, and he's batting .438 (7 for 16) with three homers and nine RBIs.

Puig's eighth-inning grand slam in a 5-0 victory to open this series Thursday set Dodger Stadium into a frenzy.

"It's just infectious the way he plays,'' manager Don Mattingly said. "Seems like there's a joy in his game. It's the way you're supposed to play. He just looks so fresh. That's what gives our guys so much energy.''

The Dodgers, winners of 10 of 14 at home, are expected to have Ryu (6-2, 2.89 ERA) back on the mound Friday after he missed his last turn with a sore foot. The left-hander was hit by a comebacker in a 3-0 win over the Los Angeles Angels on May 28, when he pitched a two-hitter and struck out seven.

Ryu, second among rookies in wins, doesn't throw in between outings - something the Dodgers were aware of when he signed a six-year, $36 million contract in December - but he threw about 25 pitches in a bullpen session Monday, according to the team's official website.

"(The foot is) a lot better today," Ryu said through an interpreter. "I'm pretty confident I should make my next start."

He'll face a Braves team coming off its first loss in six games. Atlanta (37-23), which had won 15 of 19, wasted a solid start from Tim Hudson and recorded just seven hits - six singles.

Jason Heyward was a bright spot with his fourth consecutive two-hit game.
The Braves have had no problem generating offense with Paul Maholm (7-4, 3.68) on the hill, as the left-hander has received more than six runs of support per game.

Beginning with an 8-5 victory over the Dodgers on May 17 when Maholm allowed four runs - two earned - in six innings, Atlanta has totaled 29 runs while winning his last four starts.

He won his third consecutive decision Sunday, throwing six innings of three-run ball in a 6-3 victory over Washington.

If Maholm runs into trouble, the Braves' bullpen will get a chance to regain its dominant form after Cory Gearrin gave up Puig's grand slam. Atlanta's relievers had yielded two runs in the previous nine games, a 28-inning stretch.
