He is a ground ball pitcher. You want to know what a tougher pitching environment for him would be? Playing on Astro turf. Or do they take that into consideration when making their educated guesses too?

You clearly haven't been watching him the past 2 seasons then...

He wasn't a groundball pitcher in 2016 (nor 2015) when his GB/FB ratio were significantly under 1.00 these past 2 seasons.

Not to mention, out of the 84 pitchers in 2016 who threw 150+ innings, guess which pitcher had the 5th most batted balls as flyballs (with 164)? It was Porcello...

So you can throw that 'he's a groundball pitcher so Fenway doesn't affect him' argument out...

He is at 45% the last 2 years, down from the 50% which is his career average. What has changed? His strikeouts have went up. Why is that? Because Boston plays 18 games a year against 3 of the top 5 teams for strikeouts, who reside in the AL East.

Check out the TOTAL number of flyballs he allowed in 2016 compared to prior years. Can't say they were the result of strikeouts and hence not helping your argument. For a pitcher that's allowing as many flyballs as he did in 2016, Fenway is not friendly.

Check out his innings pitched. We could do this all day. I literally watched the guy pitch every game since we drafted him.

So do a flyball/inning ratio and you'll see its still not close. He used to be a ground ball pitcher but hasn't been since joining Boston, and the stats back that up.

Check out his innings pitched. .

In Porcello's last 3 years with the Tigers, if you divide the flyballs hit off him into innings, that number is 0.819. In 2016, that number was 1.103.

So the amount of flyballs he allowed per inning (so you can't say it's because he threw more innings) was almost 35% greater in 2016 than his prior 3 year average for the Tigers.

I know you're trying to argue for Verlander since he's on the team you root for, but you're clearly giving Porcello too little credit here since you completely dismiss that he pitches in a much more hitter friendly ballpark (not debatable) and that he was much more of a flyball pitcher in 2016 (also not debatable).

Trout fully deserved his AL MVP. Dude was unquestionably the best player in MLB IMO and has been over the last five years. Betts had an amazing season and I hope he wins one down the road, but I just don't see how you could give it to him over Trout.

Bryant was a no doubter as well.

What a shock Arenado gets screwed on MVP like anyone didn't see that coming. And you can't tell me it's because the Rockies weren't a winning team because Trout won the AL and the Angles were worse than the Rockies.

You have to have an other worldly year to win MVP as a Rockies. The stats are so skewed by playing 81 games there. That's just how the voters look at it even with a guy as great on O and D as Nolan

Well, I was wrong. I can't hate on Trout though, he's the best.

Congrats to Ricky. I was sorry to see him go. But the 2 who didn't have JV on their ballots should have them taken away. I guess he should have had a better April. Until they come up with an award equal in prestige to the MVP, for this year it has to be Trout.

Given what Nolan did with the quality of talent around him compared the talent around Bryant plus Nolan having 2 more HR's, 32 more RBI's, .2 better BA, plus 15 more at-bats and yet 51 less Strike-Outs I don't see how anyone can say Bryant had the better season. You put Nolan on the Cubs and Bryant on the Rockies with the exact same seasons and Nolan wins MVP by a mile.
