Question...

How much do we take into account injuries, short stint careers, and sporadic great years

Of course everyone will have different opinions when voting but I vote on the Bo Jackson method. If the player was great for a few years but then sucked due to a injury then I still view him as a great player. If the player was off and on then to me its just a personal feel do I like the guy. If the guy had just 1 great year/1 hit wonder then hasn't done much since that point, then I wouldn't select him. (Yes I have Harper on my team but its 50% Homer pick and 50% I see a star if he stays healthy).

Brady Anderson is a one hit PED wonder. Mediocre for career and suddenly 50 HR and then back to nada.
Joel Zoom Zoom Zumaya was lights out til injury. Not sure how some would view him.

Ritz is very correct about Bo. Barring injury he would have kept producing.

Sustainablility is key for me when judging the flashes or injury guys.

This sounds Fernandez related lol. I personally would think positively of most players like that. I'm gonna look at players peaks. If it's only one year of peak performance maybe I question it but for somebody (like Fernandez) who we only have about a season of stats for I'm gonna treat how he played as how good he is.

Further explaination...sustaining for few years which Brady did not. Assuming Bo Jackson would have sustained longer. Which in most minds he would have.

I'm curious where Ellsbury fits in then. He had one year that was superior to his other seasons but still had other good seasons and really had a bunch of seasons interrupted by injury.

I took Bourn to be CF and leadoff for the wow factor. Hoping guys remember the SB and couple years he hit 285ish and was getting 50-60 walks. Getting on infront of Miggy and Albert. Not that those stats are all world for leadoff just remember how easy he stole bases.

Same for Ellsbury to me. I remember him being dominate at times yet hampered by injury. I remember what a player does when healthy and at his best. Other people may see it different.
