To be convinced that he won't succeed here is silly.

I've heard his name mentioned many times as one of the more underrated coaches in FBS by media and coaches. He does very well with the resources at his disposal. As of two years ago, there were 4 schools in the big 5 conferences with a smaller athletic budget than Oregon St. He'll be working with resources and talent, the likes of which he's never worked with before. Not even close.

I have this feeling that there is more to this. The hire is too odd and the guy is too old for there not to be something more happening.

Frost may still be coming. He may fork over his West Coast Offense and let Frost do his thing. It would make sense with the type of players we currently have.

so many people comparing Pelini and Riley, there just isn't anyway to compare. Look at what Bo had to work with and what Riley was working with, it's a huge step up at nebraska.

a lot of people looking at record against ranked teams: Bo was 9-16 and Riley 8-23 since 2008, but what I'd like to see in that comparison is who was the favorite in each game, by how much were they favored and then the final score spread. Bo seemed to lose a lot of games he should have won and I'm guessing Riley wasn't favored to win too many of the games he lost.
