NBC Washington's Dianna Marie Russini reports the Redskins have "strong interest" in free agent OG Mike Iupati.

Coach Jay Gruden has been transitioning away from smaller, athletic zone linemen to large power blockers for the last year and a half. Iupati is a 6-foot-5, 330-pound road grader whom new Redskins GM Scot McCloughan drafted in San Francisco. Iupati would be a natural fit in D.C. Per Russini, the Redskins can expect competition for Iupati's services from the Buccaneers.

We have the money to do it. My tope 3 were Ordrick, Bulaga, and Iupati. We should at least get one.

I'd love to get Iupati but he plays LG, which is where Lauvoa is right now. Who's the odd man out here? And what's the team's assessment of Leribeus and Long?

4. Jared Odrick

2014 Grade: +9.0

2014 Snaps: 817

After a couple of early-career position switches. Odrick seems to have found a home as a defensive tackle in Miami’s 4-3 scheme. Despite only one sack, he still finished with 28 hurries, after posting 46 hurries to pair with a +11.8 pass rush grade in 2013. He’s been a little less consistent against the run, grading around average the last couple years. Perhaps a decreased workload could help in that area after playing 874 and 817 snaps in each of the last two years respectively. If prospective teams want to see him in more of a 3-4 defensive end role, they can go back to see his 2011 tape when he graded at -5.2. Chances are he’ll be a candidate for both schemes, but allowing Odrick to rush the passer from the interior seems like the best fit to this point in his career.

not sure he fits our scheme that well either

he is a 3-4 De skinsdad. He would fit our defense. He is young and has a ton of upside.

Oh yeah? Then what was the point of brining in Hatcher? The point was to get to the QB. He got his money b/c of his sack total. Not his run defense.

in the shooting the gap style of 3/4 he would need to get sacks coach

as for fitting into our 3/4 he had his worst year as a 3/4 de

and the asking price is 7 mil for a guy whose sack totals amount to 3.5 a year

i am not sure that is value

now could would look at him for a contract similar to francois but 7 mil a year ? ehh

if we get iupati we have to leave him at LG. he's played next to a pro bowl LT joe staley his whole career so he should feel comfortable playing next to another pro bowler in williams. its not that i dont trust him on an island at RG its just that i want zero chance for him to be a bad signing.

If we get him that would mean Chester and Ribeye would be cut. Iupati, Leonvuno, and Long would be the guards.
