Or at least this is about a 98% likelihood as BTN reports.........

This is obviously good news for Nebraska. Discuss....

I am against it. Sorry but if you dont want Mich or tOSU to be number one, Then dont let them. That simple to me, It also seams like backing down from a fight to me.

The reason is simple- you don't want those two teams playing the last game of the year then again in the B1G championship. Who's going to watch that game two weeks in a row? Not me.

So which team of Indiana, Purdue, Michigan, Michigan St do you want if they are doing east-west?

I'm pretty sure Michigan and Ohio St will end up in the same division, and they really need to be.....

I'd like to keep Michigan St then and have Michigan-Michigan St be a cross division rivalry.......I also read something on this and Wisconsin-Michigan St have formed a little bit of a rivalry of late.....

Nebraska, Wisconsin, Michigan St, Iowa, Minnesota, Northwestern, and Illinois

Penn St, Ohio St, Michigan, Indiana, Purdue, Maryland, and Rutgers

For the top 3, cross division protected game could be as I listed.....Nebraska vs Penn St, Wisconsin vs Ohio St, and Michigan vs Michigan St.......

I don't know enough about some of the smaller existing B1G rivalries to say what would be the best cross division set up for the rest of the teams and the two new ones......maybe take the two teams that could use the new found recruiting exposure the most, Iowa vs Rutgers and Minnesota vs Maryland, then Illinois vs Indiana and Purdue vs Northwestern?

Exactly.

They were auto crossovers that play each other the last game of the regular season.
Nobody wants a rematch (a week later) in the B1G CCG.

There are serious pros and cons to this. I was really happy about getting to play Michigan every year, but getting the easier division is not something I'm gonna lose sleep over.

No one is running here. Nebraska isn't "backing down from a fight" and to accuse the university of this is almost as absurd as accusing the fans of it.

Don't be so dramatic.

I imagine Husker fans will be rooting for one or the other depending on the year..

Nebraska ain't the one making the decision.. how can we back down from a fight we have no say in??

I'm all for easier schedules.. win the B1G with 1 or no losses, and we'll still get in the playoff ALMOST every year

I don't see how you guys are saying that's a much easier schedule.....

If they keep Michigan St in our division, they essentially swapped out Michigan for Wisconsin, and the new team added is a non factor in Illinois.....

Over the past 5 years I would say Wisconsin is clearly a much better team than Michigan.......Will that be the same going forward??? I would imagine there are years that Michigan will be better than Wisconsin, but I'm not convinced Wisconsin is just all of the sudden going to go back to sucking like they did before Alvarez turned the program around....so I guess I'm saying I don't see this huge disparity between Michigan and Wisconsin going forward that many of you must apparently.....

The most important thing to the B1G is to preserve the OSU um game, as it should be. If the big 12 had done the same for us an OU that rivalry wouldn't have died out, all just to satisfy ut.
Shortly there will be very little rivalry or traditions left at all in CFB for any team, all for the sake of fucking tv/cable contracts, a dying unnecessary novelty. In a few years when sat/cable is obsolete will we be able to place everyone back to normal? Nothing matters at all anymore, it's just sad

I think Wisky got one hell of a head coach and he did what he needed to do in putting a good offensive staff together to supplement what will likely be a solid defense. They aren't going away IMO.

If those divisions existed this past season ignoring bowl bans, the bowl teams would have been

West - Nebraska, Wisconsin, Michigan St, Minnesota, Northwestern
East - Ohio St, Michigan, Penn St, Purdue, Rutgers

Each division would have sent 5 teams to bowls....

I don't see how one of those divisions would be considered a far tougher division....

And let's be honest, we'll likely be talking about 2 more teams next off-season....

We would have the best recruits in our Division......

So in thee long run, by evidence of past years, we should consistently be winning our Division.

Wisconsin's been the best team in the B1G for a long time now.

Nebraska's been just as good or better than Michigan.

If there was a "stronger division" with that alignment, it would undoubtedly be the West.

You can't even say that Michigan is trending up right now. They aren't.

You can't say with certainty that Wisconsin is trending down.

The writing is on the wall, but it remains to be seen.

Just because Michigan seats a couple thousand more people in their stadium doesn't make them any better than Nebraska and it certainly hasn't made them better than Wisconsin. Not as of late.

One could also say that Purdue would not have been bowl eligible this year had they played Rutgers..

BTW: Meat Chicken hold like around 30,000 more fans than Memorial Stadium. Does it make them better no, but it does help.
